The 12 Best Bond Girl Names

Already a gigantic hit in the UK, the 23rd film in the James Bond franchise, Skyfall, is about to explode onto movie screens in this country. In the series’ 50-year history, its suave hero, 007– played by six actors, from Sean Connery to Daniel Craig— has encountered scores of devious villains and even more luscious ladies, some originating in the Ian Fleming novels, others created for the screen. The Bond Girls had names ranging from the ridiculous (Pussy, Kissy, Plenty, Trigger) to the sublime. Here are Nameberry’s picks for the most sublime.

Sévérine

Played by Bérénice Marlohe in Skyfall, 2012. The most recent beauteous Bond girl has a gorgeous French name rarely heard here. Sévérine is the French female version of the Latin name Severus

I actually know a Solitaire, but she usually goes by Sol. I didn’t know until now that she was probably named for a Bond girl!

Solitaire, Jinx and Severine are so pretty! I love them. If I were a celeb, Solitaire would definitely be on my list! LOL.

My favorite bond girl name is Giacinta, which I like more the version Jacinda, I’m also in love with Elektra, Miranda & Domino!

I named a fake baby Tatiana for a project, and a character from my novel Xenia.

I already love Domino and Vesper, and I’m adding Solitaire, Elektra and Severine to my list!

Had never thought of Solitaire as a baby name, but I love it for the middle name. I’ve also been loving Jinx lately.

I don’t mind the name Xenia, I think it would be pretty as a middle name. I know a girl whose middle name is Xena and she hates it, but her first name is Julissa. I don’t think Julissa Xena flows exactly, but it’s still a unique and pretty name. I love Solitaire, but I know my family members would think I’m absolutely insane if I named my daughter Solitaire, but I still really like it.

What, no mention of Pussy Galore?

Or Plenty O’Toole, surely THE most obvious Bond girl name ever?! Pola could also be a variation on Paula or Polly and some accents make Paula sound more like Polla in any case. Very apt post, as my colleagues have been raving about Skyfall all week. Just don’t get me on the subject of my favorite Bond, because that will start arguments.

As noted in the intro, I was focusing on the more usable names, thus eliminating Pussy and Plenty.

Vesper is lovely.

Other Bond Girls’ names I love are Galatea “Gala” Brand, Ruby Windsor, and Strawberry Fields. I also like Honey, as in Honey Rider.

Wonderful post! And Solitaire – what a lovely name! I may steal this one…

I would love a Vesper / Severine sibset. I think they go perfectly together, especially with the nicknames Sev and Ves each other’s inverse. Didn’t even realize they were both Bond girls!

Love Vesper, Severine, and Miranda. And it’s nice to see Miranda described so beautifully- I feel the same way about it!

I’ve never seen a Bond movie. I had no idea they had such interesting names.
