Why give your daughter a mere name when you can name her after someone she can look up to? Of course, that inspirational namesake may well come from your own family. But in honor of Women’s History
Month, we’d like to suggest the names of a dozen daring, groundbreaking women who also happen to have noteworthy names you just might want to pass on to a little girl.
For Women’s History
Month, we honor some of the army of activist heroes who have fought the struggle for women’s rights over the years. Rather than focusing on the more familiar names, from Susan
Steinem, we look to some lesser-known (with a couple of exceptions) American and British champions of gender equality. And of course, Nameberry being Nameberry, we’ve picked the ones with the most distinctive names.
It’s just in the nick of time, but we couldn’t let Women’s History Month
go by without a salute to some of the adventurous women who have blazed trails, in this case literally reaching new heights. Kudos to the the early lady pilots known then as aviatrixes, many of whom have been hidden too long in the shadow of Amelia Earhart
. And of course, Nameberry being Nameberry, our choices were based as much on their interesting names as on their accomplishments.
