February Babyberries Honor Family

February Babyberries Honor Family

February brought us the announcement of the latest royal baby name: August Philip Hawke, named for his five-times-great-grandfathers on both sides, and for his great-grandfather Prince Philip.

And Nameberry’s February birth announcements were also packed full of family meaning. From multiple honor names like Wilhelmina Darling Rachel and Aaron Wilbur, to family names with a twist, like Beatrice, Exton and Jenry, almost every name announced last month had some kind of sweet family tie.

Four baby boys and eight baby girls joined the Nameberry family in February – including two girls given the beautiful celestial name Estella. Long and lovely international baby girl names and old-school cool boy names were definitely flavor of the month.

Read on for all of the new arrivals announced in our birth announcements forum in February!

Girl Names

Adira Bethany, sister to Keturah Mallardee

"Adira is a Hebrew name meaning ‘strong’ and we chose Bethany because of the Biblical ties."

Cora Beatrice

"We call her Coco, but expect her to go by Cora outside the family. Cora is a name I’ve loved for quite a few years - likely inspired by The Last of the Mohicans - and Beatrice was my husband’s pick. I love the whimsical feel of Beatrice and that my grandmother’s name started with a B."

Daisy, sister to James and Atlas

"The name fits her so well. Husband and I are already throwing out names for a fourth!"

Estella Lucinda Elisabeth Raven, sister to Seraphine Juliette Roisin, Isadora Jacqueline Winter and Alaric Jack Corbinian

"After months of anxiety, I made a mood board with lots of different names on accompanied by images which gave off the vibe I was looking for. In the end, I added Estella, a name which had never been on our list, just because I liked the attached image. My eye kept getting drawn back to it and I started to realise, not only did it contain some of my favourite sounds, but as a longer literary and celestial name, it fit our naming criteria too."

Estella Marie

"Simple, yet has all the important things I wanted in a name combo using my great-grandmother’s name Stella, my mom’s name Estelle, my MIL’s name Marie as well as my grandmother’s name Marjorie."

Juliette Elise, sister to Jameson Gregory

"We were looking for a name that would honor my family’s French heritage, and be recognizable but somewhat uncommon here in the States. Juliette’s initials are JET, so we are enjoying nicknaming her Baby Jet or Jette so far!"

Lilia Elizabeth Ella

"Lilia is gorgeous and just feels right for her. Elizabeth honours my grandma and I took Ella from her paternal grandma’s name Margaret Oyella, which was my sister’s idea. I’ve always been a fan of alliteration so I love that her middle names are double ‘e’ and her dad likes it too!"

Wilhelmina Darling Rachel, sister to Connor, Emmett and Ernest

"Wilhelmina was my stepdad’s mom’s middle name. Darling was my great-grandma’s middle name and her grandma’s middle name. Finally Rachel is my mom’s name. I just love how meaningful her name is. She has so many nickname options and I think her name will serve her well."

Boy Names

Augustin Henry Quist, twin of Laurence Exton Seth and brother to Arthur, Lucas, Hugo, Edmund, Quentin and Samuel

"Quist is the last name of a very dear friend of ours, whom we sadly lost a couple of years ago. We couldn’t use his first name, but we think Quist is pretty cool as a middle name."

Hollis Jenry, brother to Arie Gene and Sylvia Claire

"We love that the name Hollis is a soft-sounding and truly gender-neutral. Jenry is in honor of his great grandfather, John Henry, who went by that nickname."

Laurence Exton Seth, twin of Augustin Henry Quist and brother to Arthur, Lucas, Hugo, Edmund, Quentin and Samuel

"Exton is after Exeter, which is where my husband and I met. During this pregnancy, we have been thinking back to that moment a lot and laughing about how back then we would have never believed that one day we’d have eight boys under ten together."

Wilbur Aaron, brother to Natalya Belle

"We gave him two honor names, of two wonderful men who passed way before their time: my husband’s grandpa whom he never met, and my cousin, respectively. I am very into patterns and traditions so I love that he and my husband are both named after great-grandfathers and that Wilbur has the same initials as his great-grandpa."

Warmest congratulations to all of the proud new parents!
