Reon Origin and Meaning

The name Reon is a boy's name meaning "language".

Reon is a fairly rare name, getting just a few dozen uses each year in the US, UK and New Zealand. The name Reon has two possible origins. It could be an alternative spelling of the Celtic name Rion, meaning king, or could be a name deriving from the Maori word 'reo' meaning language. Either way, given the popularity of other "eon" names like Leon, Gideon, Simeon and even Napoleon, Reon is a name that deserves some further consideration.

It has a nice meaning, not overly virtuous or religious, but there is still depth to the name. I've never heard of it. But it also sounds nice :) At least in German and French. I think it also sounds nice in English :)

I'm not convinced that this is of Maori origin, as it would be pronounced more like "Ray-on" with Maori pronunciation and it is definitely said "REE-on". Great name though - I think it's undervalued as an unusual name.
