Om Origin and Meaning
The name Om is a boy's name meaning "creation".
The sacred syllable of Buddhism, used when meditating. This short, sweet and spiritual choice has taken off in the last twenty years, and is in regular, though not highly popular, use in the US.
Another spelling is Ohm, chosen by actress Hilary Swank for her son, twin of sister Aya. Ohm is also a unit of electrical resistance, symbolized by the upper case Greek letter omega and named for the 19th century German physicist Georg Ohm.
