I prefer the regular spelling, but I kind of admire that it has "riot" in it. Feel like it would be a great name for a riot grrrl.

I don't understand why people find this spelling so distasteful, and just the fact that it's been around so long would seem to give it more validity. It could be so much worse. I mean, would you prefer Harryette?

People misspelled a lot of names back in the day. To me there is often the spelling and then there are reasonable variations and then there is Harriot.

Don't care for it much. I like the classic spelling of the name.

This spelling's been in use since the early 19th century, if not before, including for the daughter of famous suffragist Elizabeth Cady Stanton.

A riot?
Rot?
Why is spelling now a dirty word?
