Nooshi Says:

It's actually a Hebrew name in its own right too- NB hasn't listed that in the girl's entry, which is a bit odd, but in the male entry, it apparently means 'my witness.'

Essa Says:

It's just a nickname so I doubt it has any 'proper' pronunciation and the two variants have probably just stemmed from it being a nickname for Edward and Edith meaning they'd both be correct.

Essa Says:

I like it. It looks more modern than Edie and a bit more edgy too. But it seems like there's more chance of it being mispronounced as Eddy or Ee-dye.

unicornluvgirl Says:

I prefer Edie. Edi seems like it's missing something.

Nooshi Says:

I think most people would be more inclined to pronounce it the same way as Eddie, which I believe is how this name is meant to be pronounced. The boys listing for this name has the pronunciation listed as eh-dee, the same as Eddie, rather than ee-dee / Edie. Hope that helped :).

DearestJules Says:

I think Edi looks tidier than Edie, but I'd be worried someone would pronounce it as ee-dye.

MaryKathryn Says:

I disagree. I think if I saw Edi I wouldn't know how to pronounce it, unlike with Edie.
