My sister's name is Cera and she was named after the triceratops from The Land Before Time. We pronounce it like Sarah. I've always loved her name but it does get misspelled and mispronounced a lot. The most common mistakes are people that read it like Cierra or Care-ah.

I don't see why people would use this a a variant of sarah. can't this be it's own original name? Q___Q

Vicki Says:

Just thought I'd add that 'cera' means skin or complexion in Polish. It looks quite nice written out but the Sarah/Sara spellings are probably a lot more practical.

I know someone named Cera (pronounced like Sarah). When I asked her how her parents got this spelling, she told me she was named after the triceratops character in The Land Before Time. Apparently the parents let her young brother suggest names, and Cera was one of them. The parents liked it, and it stuck. She doesn't like the spelling confusion, and so she goes by her middle name.

Periberry Says:

I'd like to think it's pronounced Seee-rah.
