Jackson is one of those names that's much more popular than you think, coming in near the top of our annual Playground Analysis, which ranks names by grouping all their spellings together. Last year, more than 13,000 baby boys were named Jackson -- along Jaxon, Jaxson, Jaxxon, Jaxen, Jaxyn, Jaxsen, and Jaxsyn -- which counted together makes it the Number 5 boys' name.

Cason rose up the chart as a rhyming variation on the popular Jason, Mason and Brayson. Als spelled as Casen, Kasen and Kason, it may be considered a surname-style name, borrowed from Cawston meaning "calf town", or if could be a spin on Casey, meaning "brave in battle" or "vigilant". This spelling ranks in the latter half of the Top 1000, given to around 280 boys in a recent year.

Unless it runs in your family, or Alexander Hamilton is your particular hero, you might consider something less imposing -- and without the teasable nickname Ham. Scottish curler Hamilton McMillan Jr pulls it off though, with nickname Hammy.
