Audrey, Oliver, Christian, and .....

Is Eve or Eleanor a better sister name for Isabel? Can you names twins Jefferson and Jackson, and if so what should their middle names be? Trade ideas here on great names for siblings and multiples.

Audrey, Oliver, Christian, and .....

Postby sarasays » Wed Nov 25, 2009 6:48 pm

I am currently 23 weeks with my fourth baby. My kids are Audrey Caroline and Oliver Andrew. We also miscarried a baby that we named Christian. We are absolutely stuck on girls names right now.

Rachel, Rebecca, Greta and Gretchen have been on our short this for each pregnancy. We really don't like Becky, though, so we probably wouldn't really use Rebecca. Greta and Gretchen are so hard to find middle names for, and our daughter thinks that Gretchen sounds too much like "The Grinch." Rachel just isn't right.

Lately, my husband and I have both been stuck on Piper. I'm just not sure that it would be wise to use something so gender neutral after the classic names we have used. We almost named our daughter Campbell, and Piper would have made a great sibling name, but we are on a much different naming path now.

Is there a long name that we could use Piper as a nickname for?

I'd love any suggestions, we are totally lost!!

If it makes a difference, we are pretty set on Henry "Hank" Alexander for a boy.

Thanks!

I love Audrey, Oliver, Christian, and Henry - they are all great names!

Please don't use Piper! (I confess I'm not a fan of this name at all in the first place and it's actually one of my all time least favorites - all I think of is "12 pipers piping", though I suppose the Christmas carol theme might go well with a sister named grinch :) - but I especially dislike it in this sibset).

By the way, while I think they work absolutely wonderfully together, I do think of Audrey as in a slightly different category than Oliver and Henry, the latter being turn of the 20th century antiques, the former being more of a timeless, glamorous name. I would recommend matching a sister's name more closely to the style of Audrey than to that of her brothers, so I'm not going to suggest names like Mary and Louise, though I do love them and they make great siblings to Oliver and Henry.

Anyway, my suggestions of names to go with Audrey:

Evelyn
Vivian
Cecilia
Nina
Charlotte
Lucille
Marilyn
Rosalie
Lillian
Rosalind
Naomi
Magdalena
Camille
Sylvia

(These are all, by the way, among my personal list of absolute favorites!)

I agree that Piper doesn't seem right with the classic Audrey and Oliver. I would suggest Philippa nn Pippa or Piper though, do you like that?

Good Luck:)

I agree that Piper doesn't go. I love your children's names, by the way!

Some more suggestions that fit in terms of style and popularity (sorry for repeats):
Sadie
Natalie
Ruby
Scarlett
Eva
Bella
Gabriella
Veronica
Sienna
Lila
Alicia
Sabrina (love the Audrey Hepburn link between the two)

Good luck!

I dont feel that Piper goes well with your other childrens names. Also i dislike the name piper for one it seems too trendy and it has the word pipe in it. Rivka is a form of Rebecca. goodluck

Thanks for all the suggestions!! I love a huge majority of them, but they they are also names that my husband has absolutely vetoed. I've taken out all the names that are no's, but added some notes. Any other ideas?

He says absolutely not:
Evelyn
Vivian-I love the classic Hollywood feel. He hates names with not strong consonant sound.
Nina
Lucille
Naomi
Magdalena
Camille/Camilla
Eva
Lila-Delilah is a favorite of mine.
Elise
Natalie-I like Natalie, but our last name ends in Lee.
Norah
Lily
Gemma
Sophie/Sophia-Another favorite
Ava
Annabel
Madeline
Alice
Isobel/Isabella
Cora/Coraline-LOVE Cora
Elodie
Mathilda/Matilda
Margaret
Lydia Piper-One of my top names
Eliza-Another that would be on my short list.
Eleanor
Genevieve (nn Evie)--Has the V sound of Oliver, though
Tess/Theresa/Therese
Veronica

Does not flow with last name (starts with SH)
Cecilia
Cecily

Used by family and friends
Charlotte
Molly (we call our son Ollie)
Alison
Bridget
Amelia
Josephine Piper
Caroline
Diana
Susannah
Gabriella (cousin named Abby, Abby and Gabby too close :(
Sabrina (cousin named Serena)

I think the suggestion of matching more to Audrey is great! My husband said I have too many rules for the "perfect" name, which is probably true. Flowing with Audrey and something that is Biblical or a Saint's name are my top priorities. Send me anything!!

Also, he is working hard to convince me on Greta, Rachel, or Rebecca. Any middle name suggestions?

Thanks so much! This has been so helpful!
