Our fourth(!) girl is on the way...
by gallifreygal on Sat Aug 29, 2009 11:56 am
And we need help with thinking of a fourth name for our newest daughter. Her siblings are Annalise(Anna) Marie, Eleanor(Ellie) Jane, and Adelaide(Lida Rose) Rose. My husband and I love traditional, vintage names. We are also from Southern families who adore bequeathing nicknames, so we are mindful to pick names with easygoing and warm nicknames---we don't want any of the girls to "resent" the creative naming our family and friends are prone to with nicknaming. Right now our favorite names are Josephine, Matilda, and Mirabel.
Our last name starts with W and is two syllables. And we haven't even gotten close to thinking of middle names, so any suggestions on that front would be great too!

First of all, I absolutely adore your naming style!
Josephine - I love this name, and there are so many beautiful nn options - Posy is adorable, but there is also Josie, Sephie etc.
Matilda - this fits perfectly, and the nn Tilly is beautiful.
Mirabel - for some reason, I don't think this goes as well with your other daughters' names, but that may just be me and it is pretty.
Middle names ideas :
(I've gone for short mns to fit with your other daughters'.)
Grace (very popular)
Pearl
Mae (very close to Marie)

Love your girls' names.
I suggest Margaret nn Maggie, Meg, or Maisie (my fave :) ). My favorite from your list is Matilda.
We have a similar naming style. I have two daughters named Margaret Skye (Maisie) and Penelope Kerr (Poppy). I'm pregnant with my third girl and having trouble finding a name that I like this time around.
Good luck!

Josephine Belle (Josie Belle)
Matilida Lynn (Mattie Lynn)
Mirabel (Miri/Mira)
Rosalie was already suggested but I love it with your other daughters names. However Lida Rose and Rosalie are very similiar. If it was just Lida, it could work. I also think Dorthea, Cordelia,
Lydia, and Vivian or also great suggestions.
How about -
Callista (Callie)
Cassidy (Cassie)
Cassandra (Cassie)
Elizabeth (so many nickname choices)
Francine
Gloriane/Gloria Anne (Glory)
Harriet (Hattie)
Lisette (too close to Annalise?)
Maryann/Marianne
Natalia
Susanna (Susie/Suzy)
Victoria (Vicky)

I love your girls' names! :-)
Josephine: I love this name, and think it works beautifully with your daughters' names. I adore the Posey and Josie nicknames, too. :-)
Matilda: I think it's darling, and love the nickname Tillie/Tilly. I'm in the U.S., but I know that Adelaide and Matilda have Australian meaning, so I'm not sure if this theme bothers you or not.
Mirabel: I LOVE this name, too, but with an Eleanor, I personally wouldn't use a name that ends in El. Mirabel and Eleanor is pretty -el heavy to me, but that's just me. :-)
I'm going to vote for Josephine. :-)
Josephine Blythe
Josephine Claire
Jospehine Kate
Josephine Mae
Josephine Pearl
Josephine Ruby
Josephine Scarlett (I love the flow of longer middle names with Josephine and your last name)
Josephine Violet
Matilda Beatrix
Matilda Frances
Matilda Louise
Matilda Mae
Matilda Scarlett
Matilda Violet
Mirabel Frances
Mirabel Hope
Mirabel Ruby
Mirabel Simone
Mirabel Violet
Some more you may like:
Annalise, Eleanor, Adelaide, and:
Caroline
Charlotte
Clementine (nn Cleo)
Genevieve (nn Evie)
Juliet
Louisa (nn Lulu)
Violet
Vivienne
(I tried to mostly list names with three syllables...)
Good luck to you! :-)

Sisters named Annalise, Eleanor, Adelaide. All gorgeous names!
Mirabelle, Annalise, Eleanor, Adelaide.
Matilda, Annalise, Eleanor, Adelaide.
Victoria, Annalise, Eleanor, Adelaide.
For a Southern flavour I feel that Mirabelle (spelt this way) would be perfect because then you have the gorgeous Belle as a nn, and you can't get more Southern than that!
Mirabelle Kate
Mirabelle Queenie
Mirabelle Judith
Mirabelle Elise
Mirabelle Juliet
Mirabelle Caroline
Otherwise Matilda Violet would be beautiful, or Matilda Rose.
Victoria is a good option unless you are an Aussie and then it would be like naming your children after the States of Australia.
My combo is
Victoria Margaret nn Vicky
My favourite is Mirabelle.
Please let us know what names you decide upon.

Thank you for all the suggestions! They are awesome! My hubbie loves the name Clementine and kept pointing it out to me.
We will definitely post what we decide. Thanks again!
