Favorite Names from Top 1000 - Comments?

So, here they are, from LEAST popular to MOST popular, 2008:

Libby - I really prefer this as a nickname for Elisabeth, I guess.
Tess
Arabella
Isla
Helena
Quinn
Fiona
Eliza
Madeleine
Lydia
Lucy
Isabel
Caroline
Charlotte
Julia
Hailey
Sophia
Olivia
Emma

As you can see, I love the classics, but some of these surprised me - Tess, Quinn, and Hailey. And, I am sad to say I love most of those very popular names - Emma, Olivia, and Sophia - because they were originally classic names, and now have turned vogue!

Russell
Bennett
Holden
Declan
Theodore
Griffin
Harrison
Henry
Nathaniel
Chase
Wyatt
James

Again, some of these fit the more trendy surname style, but I'm okay with that. My favorite two boy names are still Henry Theodore and Nathaniel James - very classic!

Just for fun, I took a look at the SSA listing for the top names in 1900. On the girls' side, the list was rather odd, but I did find some I love - some of my other favorites (Lydia, Charlotte, Emma, Julia, etc.) were on there, too!

Cara - Like Caroline!
Rosalind
Georgiana
Rhea
Estella
Genevieve

My favorites (if you've been on here before, you've probably seen this) are Lydia Caroline, Nathaniel James, Charlotte Eliza, and Henry Theodore - classic, elegant, simple, and sophisticated - yet I still like others!

Re: Favorite Names from Top 1000 - Comments?

Many of the names I like (i.e. Tirzah) aren't on the top 1,000 list, so I'll have to limit myself here:

Margaret - So underused, elegant, and solid. # 180
Katherine - Ditto, except not underused. # 45
Miranda - Lovely and Shakesperean. # 163
Charity - Underused, beautiful virtue name. # 793
Violet - So serious and direct - but pretty. #184
Laurel - Soft and sweet, will probably fall out of the top 1,000 soon. # 983

Nathaniel - Classic but distinctive. # 77
Frederick - Underused and strong classic. # 523
Calvin - Timeless but not epidemically popular. #228
Tate - Modern, but sounds classic. # 433

My favorite combos at the moment are:
Margaret Laurelin Idril
Charity Ivorwen Violet
Katherine Miranda Este

Nathaniel Edmund Kean
Frederick Tate Calvin

I really like your combo Lydia Caroline.

Hi!

I really like your combinations of Charity Ivorwen Violet and Katherine Miranda Este, especially the latter! Sophisticated and distinctive!

I am also partial to Nathaniel Edmund Kean, as I love Nathaniel, too. This name has excellent flow and is very dignified.
