Does Sophie work as a nn for Josephine?

I already asked this but didn't get much of a response, so I'll try again. Any takers?

I think that Sophia or Sophie would make more sense if you'd like to call your daughter Sophie, but if you chose to name her Josephine and call her Sophie, I don't think there'd be any harm.

I think you could easily get Sophie out of Josephine, I mean all the letters are there right? Actually, the more I think about it, the more obvious and plausible it seems! If you can get Hank out of Henry and Dick out of Richard then you can definitely get Sophie out of Josephine. What a good idea! I admire your creativity:)
