What I mean is, so what if it's dated? If you like it, go ahead and name your child it.

So you like Eunice, or Eben why do people assume "Well it's dated, that name is crossed of the list".

Just my opinion..

I think your right you should name your child whatever you like, doesn't matter if its considered by others as uncool or old-fashioned. I remember thinking Mabel and Lily as old lady names but now I actually think they are lovely names. Once you name your baby a name you like, its surprising how cool it suddenly becomes. People then accept the name (well you hope) and associate the name with the cute baby and not the old lady down the road.Well haha fingers crossed, I think it has a lot to do with name association as well but that ight be just me !

Not at all. While some names would cause people to make assumptions (Sonnet True must be a hippy, Trig must be a redneck etc.), most of the time people come to associate the name with the person, however bizarre or dated it is, forget that it's ugly or not to their taste, and can't imagine calling them anything else. Many a time I've found myself liking a name because I knew a lovely person who was called that, and then when I tell someone else how much I like it, they say "What, you like Agatha? That's horrible!" and only then do I remember it isn't a completely mainstream, ordinary choice.

(I do quite like Agatha, actually!)
