Well, we got it narrowed BACK down to 9 names. We sat down a few hours ago (my son woke me up an hour ago with a fever) and we vigorously went through the list and picked the names we both agreed on - we have 9. Of course, my absolute favortie names are not on this list :( - but neither are his.
Anissa (he likes it - i think its ok)
Cadence (was on our list from the beginning - still like it)
Ella (we both like it, but too popular)
Juliana (my favorite from this list)
Josephine (i really like - he thinks its ok)
Rozlynn (he's determined to spell it this way, so i'd prefer not having this name)
Sarai or Sariah (Suh-rye-uh) - we both liked this version of Sarah better than Sarina. And I'm happy with it b/c my best friend's name was Suraya when I was little before she moved away in 3rd grade.
Shayla - we both wanted an Irish name
Sienna - both like it, but don't LOVE it.

My favourites from your list are Cadence, Ella, Juliana, Josephine and Sienna but I don't think Juliana and Josephine really go with Alanna (please tell me I've matched up the right daughter there and spelt is right too). Also if you're still using James as a mn I wouldn't go with 'J' names as I'm not a fan of alliteration. Sienna James I think is the best.

Yes, I have Alanna and Jacob, too. Jacob is Jacob Justin - you referred to the JJ alliteration (Justin was after our son who passed away, so we were going to use that name as a mn no matter what). I don't know if were still going to use James. Hubby said lets figure out the fn, then we'll work on the mn.
I'd prefer not to use another "J" name, since that will make Alanna the only one w/o a J name AND I don't want to be like the Duggars. But that's what I happen to like the most on this list. But, hubby likes Shayla the most.
Now knowing that there's a Jacob (and a Justin), does Juliana and Josephine sound better with Alanna? I think Juliana goes well - Josephine is the one that seems off to me. But I like the name after my great-aunt, so it may also be used as a mn.

Okay, let me make some comments on this new list, and I apologize if it is too harsh. Names to go with Jacob and Alanna:
Anissa - I don't think it is in the same style as your other kids' names. It seems too unique to go with the sophisticated and simple Jacob and Alanna, and I don't like both Alanna and Anissa beginning with A.
Cadence - I simply don't care for this name at all. I don't think it is as pretty and feminine as Alanna, and I don't think that is what you want. It would be a nice middle name.
Ella - Not a stand-alone name in my opinion, so I think it should get the axe.

So, of your list, I like Juliana and Sariah. I preferred Julia or Juliet (I think Juliana is a no-go when you have an Alanna since they have the same ending) and Sarina. I also like Rosaleen.
I would use Rosaleen as a middle name to get your Irish name in there, and I would do Julia Rosaleen (Jules is what I call my friend Julia) or Sariah Rosaleen, or even Sariah Josephine. I definitely wouldn't do Juliana Josephine, because both Jacob Justin and the new baby would have the same initials, leaving Alanna out! Good luck!

Let me see if I can remember to comment back on what you said. As for Cadence, if you like it, then that's great! I mean, at the end of the day, my opinion is fairly insignificant. If hubby likes Sariah better than Sarina, perfect! Sariah is a great name! I agree that Shea is a bit short and too unisex to go with Jacob and Alanna, but I just think Shayla is SO different from Jacob and Alanna - it just doesn't fit for me. That is incredible about your husband's family - I'd imagine it would be quite hard to find a unique Irish name, then. I do like Josephine, but only as a middle name for you. It is a very nice way to honor family. My biggest issue is with Juliana. I could never see any parent saying, "Here are my children: Jacob, Alanna, and Juliana." without whoever they were talking to bursting out laughing because Alanna and Juliana are so similar in end sound. Too bad hubby doesn't like Juliet, and I don't think Julia is blah at all (just my opinion!), but if you used either, you'd have two J names.

As for Cadence - it's just one of those - not completely in love with it, but it's just always been there. You know? Like it has been faithful to us or something - lol. It did come off the list briefly, but that was my fault. I had so many names and so many lists, that I forgot to include it a few times. I did that with quite a few names.

About Sariah Josephine - didn't you like Sienna and hubby liked Shayla, and you both agreed on Sariah? That is what I got from your post. I think it is a perfect compromise.
About the Irish issue - I don't think I remember what Alanna's middle name is, and Alanna isn't Irish. Neither are Jacob or Justin. So, unless you REALLY want one, I personally don't think it is a huge deal, especially when it would be a chore to find a new one with hubby's 22 cousins having Irish names!
Again, I really urge you to reconsider Juliana. I totally agree that it is a beautiful name, but with the names you have already chosen, I don't think you can use it. This is just my opinion.

Oh, but Alanna is Irish. Actually Alana is more of the true Irish name, I don't know if Alanna is the "American" version or just another Irish version (I've seen it differently on various websites). But I didn't like Alana - too much like Alan w/an A. I thought the double N spelling made it prettier and more feminine.
The funny thing is that we actually had 2 more names like Juliana on the list... Liliana and Ariana. I made hubby pick only one, and it was Juliana - which was my fave of the 3 anyway. Like I said earlier, I'd kind of prefer to stay away from the J theme anyway. But only time will tell what we will end up naming her. I made a list for hubby to keep and the same list for me to keep (not that I am the one who needs reminding). Hopefully he'll keep looking them over and we'll be able to narrow it down to a few before she is born - just a few days more than 5 weeks left now!

I like Sarai Josephine over Sariah Josephine and I am voting for this combo.
I am totally biased with Jacquelyn as it is my daughter's name, she is a mother and loves her name, her friends call her Jac but we always call her Jacquelyn.
