Winter names for girls???
by rkarczynski on Thu Nov 05, 2009 7:40 pm
Hubby wants to know more winter names (other than the ones on the nameberry hot list "winter names"). Does anyone have any ideas? They don't have to pertain to Christmas, but anything to do with winter (white, snow, etc.).
Thanks in advance!

Eira is a Welsh name that means 'snow' (also a Norse name meaning 'healing') Eirwen is a variation as well as Gwyneira which means 'white snow'
Rima is a Norse name meaning 'white frost'
I guess all names meaning white would be winter-y, referencing snow, like Alba, Wendy, Blanche and such (Alba being the best...)
Nicole/Nicola since it's the feminine form of (st.) Nicholas the origin of Santa Claus...
Lumi is Finnish for 'snow'
Virginia
I'm not too creative ^^

I really love the suggestions of Hollis and Neve. Dearest's suggestion of Wendy reminded me of Wendolyn and Gwendolyn.
Nellie Stevens is a type of holly, so perhaps Nell could be an option for you.
You may also like Natalie, which means "born on Christmas day."
Names that mean "white":
Bianca
Bronwen/Bronwyn
Candace
Guinevere
Rosalba
Good luck! :-)

Hmmmm....
Well, I like
Neve -like Neve Campbell, right?
Natalia is already on our ever-growing list (he prefers Natalie though - I'm rolling my eyes at that one)
Ivy - I've liked for a while, still trying to get hubby to bite.
Noelle - was on our list at one point, it snuck off though.
Eira is interesting, so is Gwyneira - but I'd definitely be worried about pn problems.
