Mom wants to name baby something unusual, any suggestions?

My mother has just informed me that she was pregnant with twins. She already has a name picked out for the girl (Riddle Izabel) but we need a name for my bubba. She wants something that's original, but not insane. I've suggested a few and her favorites are:Ryker,Jagger,Zephyr,Carsin,Phinneas,Boston,Poe(after Edgar Allen Poe),and Jameston. Any suggestions on a name that ain't completely bonkers(keep in mind that i think all of the names above are totally acceptable,so i have a different standard of 'wierd' for example,I hate the names Benjamin and Jackson while most love them.) keep in mind that i'm 12 and i may not have the best judgment in names. She loves my name (Bethany Nichelle [pronounced like Michelle,but...not lol])while i am torn. Some days i love the individuality it gives me for being the only Nichelle within 2000 miles, but others i wish she could have given me a more traditional middle name.

I agree with Rollo. Please encourage your mother to reconsider Riddle for your baby sister. Riddle is not a unique name - it isn't even a name, and it is indeed setting the child up for a lifelong bout with teasing and undue problems. If your mother likes that sound, names with a similar melody are Rida (REE dah) and Ridley. Rida is Arabic and very interesting and pretty in my opinion. Rida Isabel (spelled in this traditional way) is a darling name that any little girl would delight in.

Names for her twin brother that sound pretty with Rida are Amar, Javan, Omar, Yusuf, Zaide, and Zain. Of YOUR choices, I think Jagger sounds best with Rida. Middle names that match Isabel are Andres, Azul, Carlos, Chavez, Cristofer, Cruz, Darien, Elian, Javier, Joaquin, Matias, Pascual, Rafael, and Ruben.

I really like Rida Isabel and Jagger Rafael, Omar Joaquin, and Zain Cristofer.

I have to agree that Riddle would be a difficult name to live with. I'm not sure I've ever even heard of it as a name.
Unusual names are fun to come up with though so here are some ideas.

I'll keep these in mind...some great suggestions. I think i've swayed her from Riddle, but she's pretty sure she wants to keep the middle name. I've asked her to spell it Isobel and she seems pretty content seeing as she still gets to name her after her mother. For the first name, she's considered Lolita,Ridley,Lora,Chelsie,Tara, and Nicolette. For baby #2 she loves the names Cruz,Bradley,Zavier,Zane,Orlando, and Blake with the middle name Jameston. She's obsessed with that name. Any suggestions because i'd hate for my lil bro to walk around with a name like Zane Jameston.

Re: Mom wants to name baby something unusual, any suggestions?

Riddle is pretty bad as is Izabel.
I love the name Lolita. I think it so beautiful.

Re: Mom wants to name baby something unusual, any suggestions?

I agree with above posters: Riddle will probably be setting up the baby for teasing. And, as much as I hate to say this, it won't be any easier if you, like me, live in a smaller town. If you reside in a big city, this may be a little different. Story is another name to consider if your mom likes "wordy" names--although it's a bit hipster-trendy, I like it better than Riddle. Also, when considering Riddle, take into account numerous Harry Potter jokes [ex. "Hide! It's Lord Voldemort!!"] Maybe I only see that because of the big Harry Potter nerd that I am, but just saying...(:
Alternatives to Izabel (pretty, pretty please no 'z'!) are: Isabelle (the spelling I'm most partial to), Isabeau (this would definitely be the most unheard of the variations; I love the soft flow of this name), Iseabail if you're Scottish or Isibéal if you're Irish (I love these spellings! Especially if it means something to your heritage), or (the most surprising variation to me) Sable, which's sound I adore. Rafaela and Pandora are also similar in sound to the Isabel Group.
For the boys, my personal favorites are currently Edwin, Theodore (Ted/Teddy/Theo), Winston, Phineas, Declan, Callum, Casimir, Philip, and Otto.

Im glad your mother is reconsidering riddle. The Isabel spelling ur mom wants to use is not my fav BUT it's not horrible so I would say lets just leave it and help with a perfect first name. Of the first names I like Lola not Lolita as its the name of a popular fictional character that is barley pubecent and seduces older men. As for the boys names Jameston is fine as a middle name. Zavier, orlando and cruz work best with Jameston.

Lola Isabel and Orlando Jameston

Re: Mom wants to name baby something unusual, any suggestions?

When Isabelle is spelt as Izabel it is so reminiscent of Jezebel and I would run like the wind away from Jezebel because of Biblical story.

Glad that mother will change baby girl's first name and we all hope that we can suggest a name that your mother will love.

Is is Jameston or Jameson that your mother loves?

I think that Cruz would suit perfectly. Cruz Jameson. Very hip, cool and handsome.
