Not pregnant yet, but...

Like the subject says: I'm not pregnant yet, but we are no longer using any type of birth control! :-) Allthough we are not married yet, we would love to become pregnant within a year... And last night we were talking about what names we like.

We both really like Anna/Anne, but one of his best friends daughters name is Anne... When I think about this, I get sad because I've always like Anne/Anna. Anne is my middle name and a family name on my side of the family AND his side.
So do you have any suggestions? Or should we, if we have a little girl, just use Anna? I do like Annebel/Annabel, but our last name has 3 syllables as does Annebel/Annabel.
And I seem to love girl names that end with -a. Like Emma, Eva, Sophia, Amelia, Isabella (although I think it is to long with the LN), Isa, Vera, Rosa, Ella...

He really dislikes:
Finn & Hugo for a boy, two names I love! He also thinks Noah is way to girly (Noa is very popular for girls overhere...)
Can you help me with some names that are similar to Finn, Hugo & Noah?

I know we still have many months/years until we really have to choose a name, but I would like to hear your opinions!

I LOVE Anne names, and I personally wouldn't drop Anne or Anna because your husband's best friend's daughter is named Anne. I LOVE Annabelle, too, and while I personally think it sounds fine with a longer last name, if you're uncomfortable with the flow, that's what matters.

For me, fact that Anne/Anna are family names for you trumps the fact that it's your husband's friend's daughter's name, and I think it would be lovely for you to use either. (I adore the Annie nickname, too.) :-)

Re: Not pregnant yet, but...

How about Anastasia? You get Anna and your A ending, but it may work better with your surname? Or you could try Annabella instead of Annabel? Some 3 syl names would work with a 3 syl surname - I do think it depends on where the stresses are in each word. My surname is 3syls, but Annabel sounds good with it because the stress in my surname is on the second syll.

Re: Not pregnant yet, but...

I love most of your name choices. It also depends on where you live? My name is Emma and its always been a popular choice here in the UK, and i believe its now No1 in the Us - maybe due to Ross and Rachel in Friends having an Emma???! Isabelle and all its variants is massively popular here too at the moment, which puts me off...not sure how you feel on this.

On another note, i have a boy called Finn (Fintan actually, and his twin brother Oscar/Oz) and Hugo is in the top 3 for another boy!
