Thoughts on Shepherd...

What comes to mind when you hear the name Shepherd?
Is it cool sounding or a little stuffy? I really like it, so does my DH,
but just wanted a little feedback. Thank you! (BTW middle name will
most likely be Nicholas)

I honestly think of one of two things, 1) Derek Shepherd on Grey's Anatomy, and 2) a shepherd, with sheep. There seems to be something off about Shepherd Nicholas, and I prefer Nicholas Shepherd, personally. Is there some significance about the name that drew you to it? This would help me see where you are coming from in your naming style. Good luck!

Re: Thoughts on Shepherd...

I love the name Shepherd! It is strong, rugged, and I can imagine this name on any age. It's one of my favorites! I say go for it!

Re: Thoughts on Shepherd...

I like it. I don't think it's stuffy at all--I think rather a guy who is happiest outdoors. Shep is a good nickname, too, depending on your last name.

Re: Thoughts on Shepherd...

I think Shepherd is very handsome, and I can see a Shep as an outdoorsman, an athlete, a distinguished man in a suit and tie, or even as a golfer. :-) I think it feels quite manly without being confined to any one particular stereotype.

Good luck!

Re: Thoughts on Shepherd...

Love Shepherd! It is a name I am strongly considering using myself one day.
Jerry Seinfeld has a son named Shepherd.
I think it's a name that has very positive connotations and I also love the shortened form of Shep.

Re: Thoughts on Shepherd...

I like Shepherd a lot! I don't watch Greys Anatomy, so I didn't really have any real associations with it other than sheep. Shep is a good nn, however, to me it sounds very cowboy. That could be good or bad, considering your tastes. Good luck.

Re: Thoughts on Shepherd...

Derek Derek Derek! But he is hot!

Shepperd is okay I'm not a big fan of that and Hunter, Tanner, Fisher occupational names.

Re: Thoughts on Shepherd...

I love Grey's Anatomy and that connection didn't even come to mind when I read your post.

I went to school with a guy named Shep (am pretty sure his formal name was Shepherd or Shepard) and I think it is a GREAT name!

Re: Thoughts on Shepherd...

Honestly, the first thing I thought about was Jack on "LOST". Then I think shepherd as in sheep.
