Okay, Seven is out. Now for #7, what about Venture??
by taylow on Sun Aug 30, 2009 5:54 am
I wrote previously about our kids. We love word names. A name where it is easily spelled and pronounced. Words that have meaning or just sound good.
Here again are our other children:
Taylor Rose
Willow Payton
Raven Kennedy
Ryker Woods
Quest Zaiden
Favor Bleu
So we have a list going and i don't care for most of them, but they are on the list anyhow.
What about Venture? This one will be a BOY.
I like it, but my problem is our last name Fletcher, he would be Venture Fletcher. That doesn't sound real good with the rhyming, or does it???
I have 4 weeks to go. And our townpeople, grocery store, library, etc. all look forward to our names.
Also our names everyone remembers, which surprises me. But they all can name each child because of their unique names, they don't forget them. I think having the word names makes it easier too.
But any suggestions would be great!! Word names preferred....
Thank you all so much in advance, it helps out huge!!

Hi Lisa -- You have some really adventurous names there! Though I like Venture a bit less than your other word names, partly because it means something very similar to Quest, and partly because in this day and age all I can think of is Venture Capital. Would love to hear some of your other ideas!

I must concur with the previous poster - Venture does remind me of Venture Capital.

I went to grade school with a girl named Ventura, so I can totally see a boy named Venture. But I don't love it with Fletcher.
Some names I think of when I read your list:
Axl
Mercury
Slate
Garland
Granite
Wheaton
Thunder

Venture Fletcher does not sound ideal, although I like the idea of using Venture ^^
I listed all (ALL) of my word names in your other post, but these suggestions stand out of the ones mentioned in this thread ^^
Walker
Shepherd
Gray
River
Archer
Drew
Mercury
Garland
Thunder
Thunder got me thinking of Tempest, mostly used for girls for some reason... I like the sound, meaning and Shakespeare reference... ^^ Valour (Valor for the Americans :) is another I thought of, mostly because it starts with a V like Venture...
I wish you the best of luck on deciding on a good name for your son! I'm sure you'll find something good!

I love the suggestion of Cosmo!
How about Cetus (SEE-tus); the Latin name of a constellation which translates as ... 'sea monster'. The constellation is pronounced SEE-tus, but if you wanted to be true to its Latin roots, the pronunciation would be KAY-tus.
Other constellations are:
Corvus (COR-vus) - crow
Cygnus (SIG-nus) - swan
Lupus (LOO-pus) - wolf (nn Wolfie is adorable, in my opinion)
Orion (oh-RYE-un) - hunter
Perseus (PER-see-us) - hero (also a character in Greek mythology, he killed Medusa and founded the city of Mycenae).
Good luck!
