Siblings for Emery WDYT?

I have been thinking quite a bit about future childrens' names! Some day Emery Jane will have a sibling! I have a pretty good list going. I would love any feedback and suggestions of other names.

Girls: Top 2
Frances Ann nn Fritzi: Both names are family names including the nn. I love the traditional name with the quirky nn. Ann is not a filler middle name as many people think. It is my mothers name and my middle name.

Iris Elizabeth: LOVE LOVE LOVE Iris... once again the whole name feels traditional with a touch of quirky or off beat.

other contenders:
Lucy
Calla
Fiona
Violet
Matilda
Bianca
Neve
Hollis
Elizabeth would go by a nn Tibbie, Etta, or Betta (I am Elizabeth and those are the only 3 nn that wouldnt get confused with names I am called or the 3 other close family members named Elizabeth)

Potential middle names would most likely be one of these: Catherine, Mary (or some form of it), Mae, Elizabeth, Ann, Jean, Marie, Anna, James, McBride, Larabee, Frances but other suggestions welcome!

Boys top 3
Conrad (husbands fav)
Byron (my fav)
Edward nn Ward

Lowell
William (husbands name)
Larabee (family surname) nn Lars (I might just be nuts with this one!)
Vance
Calvin
Curtis
Orson
Declan (love this and would honor my maiden name but I feel like it is becoming popular and doesnt have that traditional feel) Has great middle name potential though

Potential middle names: Declan, James, McBride, John, Thomas, Edgar, Paul, Larabee, William, Charles, Lowell, Benefield

Ok Have at it ladies and gents! Thanks!

(Any name ending in EL such as Mabel, Adele, Annabell, Nell, Abel... will not work with our last name)

Re: Siblings for Emery WDYT?

Hi Zard, I feel a bit shy about posting but I love some of your names so much!
Also, being nine months pregnant I have a lot of free time lately and I know all that will change soon!

I just love Emery Jane.

Frances Ann nn Fritzi: I like Frances but Fritzi just makes me thing of that Fritzl captive girl.
I like that you're using a family middle name and I don't think Ann is a filler anymore.

Iris Elizabeth: LOVE LOVE LOVE Iris... me too! It is so beautiful.

other contenders:
Lucy- I love Lucy! It's my sisters name and I think it's so cute! I hate Lucille though. Ugh.
Calla- I like the more subtle flower reference and think Calla matches Emery really beautifully.
Fiona- I'm in love with Fiona. But it seems a bit vowely with Emery if that makes sense. Fiona and Emery is hard to say but Emery and Fiona sounds good.
Violet- love love love love love SO much.
Matilda- cute.
Bianca- there were alot when I was at school so it seems dated to me..
Neve- not a fan.
Hollis- not a fan of this either.

Elizabeth would go by a nn Tibbie, Etta, or Betta (I am Elizabeth and those are the only 3 nn that wouldnt get confused with names I am called or the 3 other close family members named Elizabeth)
Do you mean as a first name? I don't think you should use Elizabeth as a fn if there are so many in your family. Keep it in the middle is my opinion.

Favorite girl combo's:
Iris Elizabeth- so beautiful!
Lucy Violet- AAAWWW!!
Fiona Mae

Potential middle names would most likely be one of these: Catherine, Mary (or some form of it), Mae, Elizabeth, Ann, Jean, Marie, Anna, James, McBride, Larabee, Frances but other suggestions welcome!

Boys top 3
Conrad (husbands fav)- I just dont like it. Sorry.
Byron (my fav) - I like this. I live near a place called Byron Bay so it seems very hippyish to me but only because Byron Bay is a very hippy place. If you don't live near a Byron Bay (pretty sure you don't) I love it!
Edward nn Ward- Alright. Edward and Emery.. don't like that.

Lowell
William (husbands name)- I like William nn Will! Really cute.
Larabee (family surname) nn Lars (I might just be nuts with this one!) If you don't know the connection it looks a bit made up but I don't think your nuts. Also the Lara part makes it look a bit girly?
Vance- Handsome.
Calvin- klein?
Curtis- Like it. Very neat.
Orson- don't really like the or sound.
Declan- I love it too but it is popular.

Potential middle names: Declan, James, McBride, John, Thomas, Edgar, Paul, Larabee, William, Charles, Lowell, Benefield

I like all your boys mn's alot.

Re: Siblings for Emery WDYT?

Josie, thanks for replying! No need to feel shy.I can see why you feel the way you do about some of the names. Our 3 month old Emery's name is full of meaning so some of the Family names just mean that much more to me. But I am sure when I have another one I will have that feeling of "this is their name".

As for Larabee nn Lars. My greatgrandmother Anna Larabee was a beautiful person. Her funeral was the place I ever saw my father cry. So the name has a lot of meaning and I am in the south where I know many people with unusual surname first names. My husbands cousin is Benefield. But all that being said I wouldn't curse my child with a horrible name. Byron is at the top of my list right now!

I know Fritzi will throw some people off but I just think it is so darn cue! I also think its a nickname that can carry on into adulthood. I love Violet and Lucy too! I feel like they are climbing the popularity list! Iris is so pretty to me! I feel like Emery and Iris could be a mouthful though. But I do love it!

Do you have a message board started up about what to name your little one?

Re: Siblings for Emery WDYT?

I love Byron!

Zard, if Larabee has that much meaning for you, just use it!

Fritzi is cute and it has grown on me. Violet and Lucy certainly are getting popular.
My favorite is still Iris Elizabeth but I can see how Emery and Iris are a bit r-ish to say.
You have so many good options!

Do you have a message board started up about what to name your little one?
Yes, I am expecting twin girls any day now!
I am thinking along the lines of Genevieve and Clementine or Delilah..

Good luck finding the right name, I know you will because Emery Jane is so amazingly perfect.

Re: Siblings for Emery WDYT?

Hi there, Elizabeth! I hope Miss Emery is doing well! :-)

Girls: Top 2
Frances Ann nn Fritzi: I love Frances and Ann(e) (one of my favorites, actually), but I'm wondering if the "an" sounds in both names are a bit repetitive. (It's probably just me, though.) :-) I do think Fritzi is quirky in a cool way. :-)

Iris Elizabeth: I LOVE this, too, Elizabeth! LOVE it!

other contenders:
Lucy: Love...
Calla: Love...
Fiona: Love...
Violet: Love...
Matilda: Love...
Bianca: I think it's pretty, but I can more easily see the other names with Emery
Neve: Ditto
Hollis: LOVE!
Elizabeth: You know how much I love your name! :-)

I think your middle names are great!

Conrad (husbands fav): LOVE! LOVE! LOVE! (And high-fivies to your husband for loving it!) :-)
Byron (my fav): I LOVE Byron, too!
Edward nn Ward: LOVE!

Lowell: I think it would be cool as a middle. (I'd be worried about potential Low and Lowly jokes with Lowell as a first name. I think it's very handsome, though.)
William (husbands name): LOVE!
Larabee (family surname) nn Lars: On a boy, I think it may be a bit feminine with Lara and Bee (nickname for many a Beatrice).
Vance: Cool...
Calvin: LOVE!
Curtis: Nice...
Orson: Nice...
Declan: I think it's great with your last name!

I really, really love your list, Elizabeth! I think it's fantastic! :-)

Best wishes to you!

Re: Siblings for Emery WDYT?

Jill, as always I love your thoughtful responses. I agree about Larabee.

I can see what you mean about Frances with Ann. I so want to use Ann in the middle but I can't seem to find a name I love that fits quite right with it. I don't want to use it as a first name (at this point). But Fritzi is just winning me over lately. Any suggestions on a first name that Ann would work in the middle?

Re: Siblings for Emery WDYT?

Can Ward stand alone? I LOVE this name and I do like Edward but I LOVE LOVE LOVE Ward much more and could careless if he is named Edward... but would name him Edward if Ward cannot stand alone.

Re: Siblings for Emery WDYT?

Hi Elizabeth! :-) Let's see...Ann in the middle....

Beatrix Ann
Beatrice Ann
Charlotte Ann (wait...sounds a bit like the word "charlatan")
Lucy Ann (reminds me a bit of Lousiana, though... but only by a tiny, tiny bit) :-)
Violet Ann

Ann is a tough one in the middle, because to me, when it follows a first name ending in an A, the flow is awkward, and with names like Caroline, Ann sounds N-heavy to me. (What about you?)

Have you thought about Anneliese (I know Annabelle is out for you) or Anna? What about using Ann in a name, like:

Juliana/Julianna/Julianne
Lilianna
Luciana
Mariana
Vivianne

I think Frances is great, too, and if you love it with Ann, that's all that matters! :-)

I do think Ward is handsome. I'd personally go with Edward because I love the name and think it's great to have options, but I can definitely see Ward on its own. Most definitely! :-)

I think Ward and Emery sound great together!

Have a great night! :-)

Re: Siblings for Emery WDYT?

Hi, Zard!
Girls: Top 2
Frances Ann nn Fritzi: Both names are family names including the nn. I love the traditional name with the quirky nn. Ann is not a filler middle name as many people think. It is my mothers name and my middle name. - So cute, and different, which I love. Ann is a great middle. I have Anns in my family, too. Nearly named our daughter Elizabeth Ann. or Anne.

Iris Elizabeth: LOVE LOVE LOVE Iris... once again the whole name feels traditional with a touch of quirky or off beat. - LOVE Iris Elizabeth, too!

other contenders:
Lucy - love, love!
Calla
Fiona - like a lot. I know a teenage girl named Fiona who is kind of naughty. She keeps me from absolutely loving Fiona.
Violet - like a lot. My aunt's name. She can really be a pill. My sister calls my aunt Aunt Violent. Otherwise I would love Violet.
Matilda - love!
Bianca - love!
Neve
Hollis - love, obviously, it's often in my lists.
Elizabeth would go by a nn Tibbie, Etta, or Betta (I am Elizabeth and those are the only 3 nn that wouldnt get confused with names I am called or the 3 other close family members named Elizabeth) love Tibbie. Is Libby taken?

Love Lucy Violet!

I will star the mn's I love:
Potential middle names would most likely be one of these: Catherine*, Mary* (or some form of it), Mae*, Elizabeth****, Ann***, Jean*, Marie, Anna*, James*, McBride**, Larabee*, Frances*** but other suggestions welcome!

Cool - Larabee, I think that's Linus' last name in Sabrina.

Boys top 3
Conrad (husbands fav) - LOVE
Byron (my fav) - This is a great name. I am biased because I knew an unpleasant young man with this name.
Edward nn Ward - I love Edward, but for some reason I don't like Ward. Maybe it reminds me of Montgomery Ward's. I love the nn's Ted and Teddy.

Lowell - no, there is a street that I don't like called Lowell. I am biased.
William (husbands name) - LOVE!
Larabee (family surname) nn Lars (I might just be nuts with this one!) - so cool
Vance - LOVE, outhip the hipsters
Calvin - LOVE!
Curtis - when I was five years old, I was in love with a little boy named Curtis Cole. He gave me a pair of roller skates for my birthday.
Orson - not my style
Declan (love this and would honor my maiden name but I feel like it is becoming popular and doesnt have that traditional feel) Has great middle name potential though - I love Declan!

Potential middle names: Declan*, James***, McBride*, John*, Thomas***, Edgar, Paul, Larabee*****, William, Charles******, Lowell, Benefield
Charles is one of my fave middle or first names. Love William as a first, but I find it to be bland in the middle. Love Thomas as a first! Thomas is the greatest. But it also seems a bit bland in the middle. Love Larabee in the middle!

Re: Siblings for Emery WDYT?

Susan, Thanks so much for the feedback! And thanks for giving Larabee a thumbs up in the middle! :) I am working on the perfect combination for it so my husband can fall in love with it! I am posting our top 6... for now... all other names still contenders! (funny about montgomery ward! haha). I always love your thoughts.

Jill, I agree it is hard to find a name to go with Ann in the middle. The only way I would consider it as a first is if my daughter came out and just HAD to Ann Elizabeth (mothers name)... but not at the top of my list. And I have scowered for an "ANN" variation and can't find one I love...

Ok Top 6 combos

Byron Charles De......

Conrad James De......

Edward “Ward” McBride De......

Frances Ann De......

Iris Elizabeth De......

Lucy Mae De......
