Bilingual Names

Hi,
My family is French Canadian, and my fiancé's is English Canadian. We do not have children yet, but we often talk about how we're going to go about finding names that we both like and work in both languages. We like classical names over spunky or trendy names, and we would need them to be easy to pronounce for both our families. We are planning on raising our children speaking both English and French, but we obviously don't know which will become their primary language in their adult life, so we don't want names that will sound "strange" in one of them.
I was wondering if anyone has suggestions, or tricks to come up with names that work in those two languages.

What a great question! My best idea is to Search for names by origin using French -- here's the link -- http://nameberry.com/search/by_origin/33/French -- but you can choose the origin search from the home page or click on origin from the supersearch box. Then from those names (there are more than 1100) look for the ones that also work in English. Amy/Aimee; Juliet/Juliette come immediately to mind but there are so many.....

I'd second what Pam said. Maybe find a few French names you like, and see if they rank in the top 500 or so in the US (you can check the rankings on the Social Security Administration's website). If they rank, they probably won't sound out of place in French-speaking or English-speaking contexts.
