Need help naming our daughter!
by lindseyne on Fri Nov 06, 2009 4:34 pm
I've never posted but have come to love this site the past few months and really could use some help! I'm due with our first baby, a girl, in 2 weeks, and my husband and I cannot agree on a name. The only name that I have found that I absolutely LOVE is Nora, but my husband does not like it. He loves Audrey, but it just doesn't feel right to me. Some other names that I really like are:
Eloise
Amelia
Iris
Harper
Ruby (love this one but husband says definitely "No")
Louisa
We actually both like Harper but are worried it doesn't flow well with our last name which rhymes with "broker". What do you think?
Also - what are you thoughts on the others? Any other suggestions? I thought naming this baby would be so much fun but my husband is not cooperating and it's driving me crazy!
Thanks all

If your husband isn't into Nora, what about Eleanora?
On your list I like Eloise and Louisa the best, but they are all nice classic names. Here are some others you might like:
Adaline
Daphne
Hazel
Hope
Vera
For me, Harper Broker would just sound wrong. I think it could be a nice middle name though:
Eloise Harper Broker
Good Luck!

I don't think it's bad with broker.
If you really love it just go for it.

I absolutely adore all of your names except Harper. It's a surname, not to mention a super trendy one, and really doesn't go with your surname. I love Iris, Eloise, and Louisa!

Hi there! :-)
Eloise: I love Eloise so much, and think it's great with your last name. :-)
Amelia: I think it's beautiful...
Iris: I love it, but think that some of your other names work better with your last name.
Harper: Harper is quite trendy and very different in style from the other names on your list. Because it shares your last name's ending, I think some of your other names work better with Broker.
Ruby: I think it's very sweet, but too B heavy with your last name.
Louisa: I LOVE this name, and think it's great with your last name.
My favorites: Eloise, Louisa, and Amelia.
You may also like (sorry for repeats):
Caroline
Cordelia (nn Cora)
Diana
Eleanor (nn Nora...Eleanor isn't the best with your last name, though)
Eleanora (nn Nora)
Eliza
Felicity
Genevieve (nn Evie)
Helena
Juliet
Katherine
Lydia
Miranda
Matilda
Susannah
Vivienne
Good luck! :-)

Louisa - love it with nn Lulu.

Thanks so much for the feedback everyone. We spent quite a while talking about it this weekend and I think we've decided on either Eloise Fable or Eloise Wren.
Thanks again!
