Opinions on Lilac

Sorry I've posted a few times about this name.....

I was just wondering in general what would you think if you met a little girl called Lilac? Would you think it was a nice name? A bit too out there?? Would you think it strange? etc.
TIA :)

Re: Opinions on Lilac

For me, Lilac is just a little too out there.
It has a harsh sound too with the "ack" ending, but that's just my opinion.
I much prefer Lila or Lily. Lavender is interesting and has a softer sound, but I wouldn't use it personally since I tend to be conservative when it actually comes time to name.
What about Lilac as a middle name?

Re: Opinions on Lilac

I like it! It's different, but still familiar. I bet she would get lots of compliments on her name!

Re: Opinions on Lilac

I like Lilac as a middle name. Elizabeth Lilac or Katherine Lilac. I think Lilac Elizabeth sounds nice too. Definitely needs something soft to go with it.

Re: Opinions on Lilac

I'm not sure I like it as a fn. Maybe as a mn though.

Re: Opinions on Lilac

I like it but I have moved to an area of the US where people say lye-LACK instead of LYE-lick which is how I always heard it growing up. I really, really don't like the lye-LACK pronunciation.

Re: Opinions on Lilac

I think it's a very pretty name, and I'd love to see it on a little girl. I actually have a friend, Lila, whom I call Lilac as a nickname, and I think it's very sweet and perky.

It's too out there for me to use, but it's not too out there for me to hear on someone else, if that makes any sense.

I think it's got a lot of charm and character!

Whatever you decide, I wish you the best! :-)

Re: Opinions on Lilac

Just a thought, does anyone else think Lilac and Scarlett would make a cute sibset?

Re: Opinions on Lilac

I think it is a pretty, feminine name, very nice indeed. Of course it is a bit out there but a vast improvement on the Addisons and Jadens.

I don't think you need a nn but Lily would make a pretty nn.

Lila (Lilah, Lyla) is Arabic for Lilac. I think Lila is a much prettier version of Lilac.
