Please help with a girl's name
by alycat822 on Mon Nov 02, 2009 1:33 am
Hi everyone. I am having my first child, a girl, due in January and I can't still decide on a name. If I could get some feedback on the names I'm considering I would really really appreciate it. Other suggestions are welcome as well. Thank you!
Madelyn Taylor -- Right now this is my first choice, but I feel like I may eventually tire of Taylor
Madelyn Helena
Madelyn Paige
Vivien Alexandra
Vivien Alexis
Vivien Estella
Hayley Alexis
Hayley Morgan
Alyssa Morgan
Alyssa Paige

Hi there. :-)
Madelyn Taylor: I like Madeline spelled Madeline, but I'm not much of a Madelyn fan. Taylor is already very dated to me (1990s), and very trendy, so I prefer some of your other names.
Madelyn Helena: I love the classic Helena, but not with Madelyn.
Madelyn Paige: I think this works nicely! :-) I really like it spelled Madeline Paige.
Vivien Alexandra: I absolutely love the name Vivien!
Vivien Alexis: Alexis is super trendy and popular, but I love the classic Vivien. Because their styles are so different, I don't think that Vivien and Alexis work very well together.
Vivien Estella: I really love Vivien, but I'm not sure about it with Estella (which I also love), because when I say it out loud, the N from Vivien attaches to Estella, and I hear Nestella.
What about Stella Vivian?
Hayley Alexis: Hayley is very trendy and part of the -aley meganame trend, which includes names like Baylee/Braylie/Caylee/Cayleigh/Haylee/Hailey/Haylee/Hayleigh/Jaylee/Shayley/Zaylee, etc.
Here's a blog entry Pam and Linda wrote on the topic: http://nameberry.com/blog/2009/04/07/the-million-baby-name/
Hayley and Alexis are a completely different naming style from timeless classics like Vivien and Helena, and I'm not sure which you prefer.
Hayley Morgan: Not my style...
Alyssa Morgan: Ditto...
Alyssa Paige: Alyssa's not my style (I think it's pretty, though), but I prefer Alyssa Paige to Alyssa Morgan.

Madelyn Tahlia instead of Taylor may appeal to you.

I love Madelyn/Madeline ... Italian version is Maddalena, which kind of has the Helena feel to it. For years, I have liked the name Madelaine so I could use the nn Lainey.
I do think Taylor is already dated ... and to be honest, I put Alyssa there as well.
I like Hailey, but I prefer Hallie.
Paige is by far my favorite of your middle names. I think it is modern enough to stand up to your favorite first names, but classic enough not to be trendy.
Good luck and congratulations!!

Madelyn Taylor -- Right now this is my first choice, but I feel like I may eventually tire of Taylor - I love the spelling Madeline or Madeleine. Taylor feels trendy and dated, sorry!
Madelyn Helena - Love Helena
Madelyn Paige - Love Paige
Vivien Alexandra - I would spell Vivien either Vivienne or Vivian. Vivienne Alexandra is lovely. Same with Vivian Alexandra.
Vivien Alexis - Alexis feels dated to me.
Vivien Estella - Since Vivienne has three syllables, I would pair it with Estelle which has a nice contrasting two syllables. Vivienne Estelle. I would keep the Vivienne spelling as opposed to the Vivian spelling. The two French names are lovely together.
Hayley Alexis - Both names sound trendy and dated.
Hayley Morgan - ditto
Alyssa Morgan - ditto
Alyssa Paige - love Paige

I like Vivien Estella the best by far! Madelyn is too popular and Hayley and Alyssa are sort of dated back to the 80s for me. GL! :)

Thank you for all your help! I just realized there is another name I forgot to put on the list that I really like and thats Lydia Alexandra. I don't usually like names that end in the same sound but for some reason I think this one flows well, am I Crazy? If you can think of any other middle names that would be great. Also, some of you mentioned the name Vivienne which I have always like the spelling of but could someone tell me exactly how its pronounced? Thanks so much!

Vivienne (my favorite spelling). It's pronounced differently in French than it is in English, but if you'll be using the English pronunciation, it's pronounced the same as Vivien and Vivian--"viv-ee-in."
I LOVE the name Lydia, but not with Alexandra.
Lydia Blythe
Lydia Charlotte
Lydia Camille
Lydia Frances
Lydia Jane
Lydia Kate
Lydia Louise
Lydia Maeve
Lydia Margot
Lydia Pearl
Lydia Scarlett
Lydia Violet
Good luck! :-)

On your list, I LOVE the names Lydia and Vivien/Vivienne. Madelyn is misspelled, but Madeleine and Madeline are nice names. Hayley is sooo trendy. I really like the combo Vivien Estella, and Lydia Alexandra is nice too!
Lydia Margaret
Lydia Rosalie
Lydia Genevieve
Vivienne Alana
Vivienne Charlotte
Vivienne Elodie
