My sister is expecting twins (girl, girl) due December; she is extremely thrilled but has not arrive to the final decision regarding the future names. I ask her to check nameberry, but the truth is that she is kind of busy. Nonetheless she listed her favorite names (she is positive she will choose from this list) but suggestions are appreciated too. What do you think of these names? Can you help us narrow it down to two?

Violet*: I really love this name....
Emery*: I think this is pretty, too, although it's a different style from the classic and vintage names on your list.
Danielle*: Here's what Pam and Linda wrote about Danielle: "Au revoir, Michelle, Nicole, Denise, and Danielle." I agree with them, feeling that Danielle is very dated (I think of it as 1980s). (I'm sorry!)

Adeline: I think this is really pretty, but pronunciation issues may arise. I've heard Adda-line, Adda-lynn, and Adda-leen.

Emme: I think of Emme as a really cute nickname for any of the Em names. Emma is the #1 for girls in the US and Emily is #4 (formerly #1 for seemingly ever), so Em names are very popular.

I love Emme as a nickname for Emmeline and Clementine.

Gabrielle: Like Danielle, Gabrielle feels dated to me, but less so.

Amelie: I love this French name, as well as Amelia.

I think Violet and Alice would make a superb twin-set as they are both similar in style (classic), have their own distinct sounds, and are not ridiculously popular yet (I know that Violet is getting up there, though). Also, the nicknames Ali and Vi or Allie and Lettie are very cute. I personally think Alice Juliet and Violet Emma would be very pretty names for twin girls. I am an identical twin myself, and my advice about naming is to give each girl a name that is different enough from her sisters that she can develop her own identity with it, yet similar in style so that there is some unifying, equalizing factor.
