need help for girls names
by jenb625 on Fri Oct 30, 2009 11:13 am
Hi all! I'm due in April so I have some time, but we're stuck on girls names. We're not finding out the gender so we need to be prepared with both! We have the names below on our list, but we kinda feel they're too popular now. Based on these can anyone give any other suggestions?? Thanks!! Last name is Boyer
Addison
Sydney
Camryn
Isabella

Hi, I agree, I think all of these names are quite popular right now. What would you say your naming "style" was? I ask b/c these names strike me as being of quite different styles. Isabella is a classic name with an elegant, vintage feel. Sydney, Camryn and Addison seem like more modern names, and are unisex. Addison is a spin-off of the mega-popular Madison. Sydney fits in with the place name trend. I would suggest that you borrow a baby name book from your local library. Make a long list of names you like. Then, if you don't want your name to be too popular, you can start cross-checking your list with the SSA website on popular baby names in the US. (That is assuming you live in the US.) Good luck.

Addison - I agree, this one is too popular.
Sydney - this isn't my style.
Camryn - I much prefer the Cameron spelling, although I feel both are a little dated.
Isabella - very popular, and it seems at odds with your other choices - it is much more feminine.
I love the suggesion of Camden - it is a nice, quirky area of London here in England.
Also, how about :
Annabella (popular)
Aria
Blythe
Cadence
Caitlin
Gabriella (popular)
Paloma
Raphaella
Roxanne/a
Savannah.
Good luck!

Addison: It's not my style and sadly reminds me of Addison's Disease, an adrenal disease. With your last name Boyer, I can't help but zero in on Addison's "son" ending and Boyer's "Boy" beginning, making it seem very masculine to me.
(It's #12 in popularity.)
Sydney: Sydney is #49, and like Addison, feels pretty trendy to me.
Camryn: I like the boy's name, Cameron, but personally am not a fan of this spelling.
Isabella: I think it's beautiful, but the #2 name in the country.
