Having second thoughts

Hey. Last month I posted about finding a name for my second daughter. We had decided on Emmeline Claire. I love this name and if we lived in a bubble I would use it.

This morning I was reading our paper and there was a picture of 8 little girls ages 3-5. Their names were (I am not kidding): Emma B, Grace W, Emma-Grace L, Lexy L, Madison R, Emma S, Emma Rose J and Gracelynn J.

As much as I like the name Emmeline Claire, I know that people will call her Emma or Emmy and I really don't want my daughter to be just another one of those Emma's in the picture. Or Emma Claire.

We are looking for another name. It would be nice if she were to have the same initials E.C. but its not a requirement. We have bought a few things for her room with those initials on it, but are willing to eat the cost if it means finding the perfect name.

Her sister's name is Annelise Kate. Thanks

Re: Having second thoughts

I would hesitate to have another Emma as well, but it's your decision. I can suggest some alternatives to you, though ^^

My first thought was Elodie. Elodie Claire sounds wonderful, and Elodie has kind of the same feel as Annaliese in my head.. You'd get the nickname Ellie though, so maybe not?
Other E names to consider:
Edith
Elena
Elise
Eliza
Eloise
Elsa
Elspeth
Emiliana (you'd still get the Em part, but more nn possibilities like Lia, Milly and Ana, this was my second thought after Elodie, but it mught be too similar to Annaliese...)
Emmanuelle
Esme
Evelyn
Elora
Elea
Elvira

Same style as Annaliese (IMO):
Melisande
Camellia
Bryony
Florence
Hermione
Victoria/Veronica
Adelaide
Lenore
Katherine
Lucia
Margot
Ophelia
Primrose
Rosamund
Selene
Sonya
Susanna
Starla
Virginia

Let me know if any of these tickle your fancy so I can suggest more ^^
Good luck!

Re: Having second thoughts

Emmeline Claire is a really pretty name, but I definitely see your point with there being so many Emmys out there.

Elena
Elodie
Evalina
Evangeline
Esme/Esmerelda

Re: Having second thoughts

My first thought was Elodie. Elodie Claire sounds wonderful, and Elodie has kind of the same feel as Annaliese in my head.. You'd get the nickname Ellie though, so maybe not?
Other E names to consider:
Edith - not warming up to.
Elena
Elise - too close to Annelise
Eliza - I think I would go with Elizabeth and call her Eliza
Eloise - I like, too close to Annelise?
Elsa
Elspeth
Emiliana (you'd still get the Em part, but more nn possibilities like Lia, Milly and Ana, this was my second thought after Elodie, but it mught be too similar to Annaliese...)- I think I would prefer to stay away from Em names all together
Emmanuelle - ditto
Esme
Evelyn - like
Elora - pretty
Elea
Elvira

Same style as Annaliese (IMO):
Melisande
Camellia
Bryony - like
Florence - like
Hermione - like but would be too Harry Potter
Victoria/Veronica
Adelaide - Love! but are Annelise and Adelaide too close?
Lenore
Katherine - already have a Kate, and prefer Kate to Katherine :-)
Lucia
Margot
Ophelia
Primrose - like, maybe another Rose name?
Rosamund
Selene
Sonya
Susanna
Starla
Virginia
