Husband's Style...

I am trying very, very hard to come up with girls names that I think my husband will like, because he has 3 names that he likes and won't really venture outside them. I think I have figured out his style, though. Do you have any suggestions that follow these guidelines?

1. Short, 1-2 syllable names, 3 syllable names on occasion.
2. Unisex names that are slightly used more for girls than boys.
3. Tends to like Celtic/Irish names, but only ones that are pretty commonplace in the US (Erin, Colleen, Shannon. Names like Ainsley are "too weird" - his words)
4. He likes names that are common/popular in our generation - 1970's/80's. Any names that are common/popular for kids now are "weird".

Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Thank you!

Re: Husband's Style...

Thanks, Rollo! Here's my/my husband's favs:

Kelly - like it, and haven't considered it as an option before! Going on the list to consider!

Alison - this was on our list a long time ago! I'd forgotten, but maybe it's time to add this one again! It's also my best friend's name, so it may be a great idea!

Jane - on the list as a middle name!

**Edit: Rollo, we love a lot of names on your list, but many of them are family member's names already. Alyssa, Kate, Jacqueline, Louise, Bridget, Sarah all fall under this category. :(

Re: Husband's Style...

Thanks for putting together so many names, Elliemae! Here's our thoughts:

I cannot go with a unisex name for a girl simply based on the fact that our last name is so harsh. I want my daughters to have some semblance of femininity in their names! (Our last name sounds like Kick.)

Bronwyn - I really like this one! This will go on the list again!

Rihannon - we have thrown this one out on occasion, but it always seems to be nixed for one reason or another. I think it's one we're on the fence about.

Erin - is DH's TOP TOP TOP choice, and has been for years. It is one I'm trying hard to avoid. I grew up with many Erin/Aaron/Aerin/Airons, and personally know 2 couples named Erin/Aaron. It seems so generic to me due to this.

I absolutely LOVE Stella, but DH says it sounds like an old lady - he can't get past "A Streetcar Named Desire".

Natasha - This is a name I haven't considered before. Will give this one some thought! We have thrown out some other Russian names before, but not this one!

Elea - thanks for such a long list to pour over! Here's our favs:

Sabrina - This is currently my favorite name, but I'm having a hard time convincing DH of it!

Again, so many of your names are wonderful, but they are family names (my husband and I both come from very large families with lots of aunts/cousins/sisters and in-laws).

Re: Husband's Style...

I really like Sabrina, hopefully he'll come around. What really jumps out at me that hasn't been mentioned yet is Julia.
