need middle (and first) names
by rackingmybrain on Mon Oct 05, 2009 2:00 pm
my first is due in 6 weeks and we still don't have a name... we have some first names we like but i have a hard time getting excited about first names if we don't have a fn + mn combination. would love to hear any suggestions for middle names for...
Molly
(need something to give it a bit more spice and/or maturity... we like molly jane but i am afraid that will sound "little girl" forever)
Julianne
(our favorite mn for this was rae, but a good friend just named her daughter something REALLY similar, to the extent that we are possibly ruling out the name altogether. I think we need something short, preferably one but two syllables at the most, because this is a longer name and we have a longish last name.)
Our last name is also pretty exotic, so we don't want to get too far out there with first/middle names. we like simple, feminine but spunky names that are more classic than trendy. others we like: greta paige, clara eden, stella claire, though my husband and i are having a hard time agreeing on favorites. feel free to suggest other combinations! thanks for the help!

sorry... my friend chose a name that is almost identical to julianne rae, both first and middle... my husband and i got the email announcing her arrival and we couldn't believe it! it couldn't be any more similar unless it was the same exact name. SO... we're on the fence about that one, we would feel pretty weird if we went with julianne rae (though i love it), and would definitely feel the need to explain the choice to our friend.
thanks for the replies!

Jillian might be a good alternative to Julianne unless of course THAT is name of your friend's baby.
Names that remind me of Julianne -
Jillian
Gabrielle or Gabriella
Angeline
Evangeline
Adrienne
Dorian - not as feminine as Julianne
Marianne
Lillian
Rhiannon
Vivienne or Vivian - I love either of these two Vivienne Rae or Vivienne Day would be pretty.

I think Molly is nice, but a little too nicknamey for me. It would be lovely as a nickname for Margaret, Mary, or Marguerite.

Molly Eleanor
I like Julianne-- too bad you can't use it. Greta, Clara, and Stella are beautiful!
Greta Josephine
Greta Juliet
Clara Elizabeth
