Suggestions for a Boys Name
by anotheramanda on Wed Nov 04, 2009 7:28 pm
Hi all, you guys are all so good at this Im hoping you can help me out. All of the names I like have certian draw backs. I LOVE the name Rhys, but our last name begins with a S- and so it doesnt really work. The same is true with other names I love Blaise, Brooks, Miles etc. I also love the name Hudson, but I cant think of a good nickname. My husband and I both love Liam, but I am worried it is a little to popular.
Middle name will probably be Jackson. Thanks in advance for your help :)

Reed is similar to Rhys without the S sound.
Reef and Reeve (or Reeves) are too but I personally like Reed more.
Similar to Liam (although I like Liam) are:
Liander/Leander
Levi
Lee
Leith
Leo/Leon

I am a big fan of Reid (spelled this way instead) with an S last name. Not sure what your last name is, but I don't think Rhys Sinclair, Sullivan, Simpson... sounds that bad. But I also like-
Reilly Jackson
Penn (this is a new one on my list!)
Grant Jackson
What about Jackson Rhys lastname? Good luck!

More names along the lines of Liam and Rhys (most of which don't work with Jackson):
Beckett
Callum
Cormac
Cashel
Donovan
Dashiell
Finnian
Grady
Griffin
Graham
Grant
Lachlan
Malcolm
Phinean
Quinlan
Quillan
Rafferty
Redmond
Rowan
Ronan
Instead of Miles, what about Milo?
Because popularity is an issue for you, I thought I'd mention that Jackson is very popular (#32).
Best wishes to you! :-)

To add to my above post, here are some names that remind me of Hudson:
Archer
Anderson
Bennett
Donovan
Everett
Harrison
Lawson
Maxfield
Pierson (the nn Piers or Pierce wouldn't work with your last name, though)
Roman
Sawyer
Shepherd
Truman
Wilson
Zane
Good luck! :-)

WOW!! Thank you all for your suggestions, I love the name Reid, however, my husband, the athlete, has a not so positive reminder of every name I love (i.e. Reid and Casey). I really love the name Lander as well, but he doesnt like it so much. I also love the suggestion of Griffin nn Finn, he, of course is not so sure. He really loves the names Cooper, Calvin, and Anderson (which I love, but I dislike Andy as a nn) but Im not so sure about any of those. Dean and Grant dont work for personal reasons.
Also, I do know that Jackson is a popular name, which is why we are using it as a middle name, and of course it does have extremely significant meaning. I am also considering a dbl middle name of Jackson Troy, which would honor two people, but I dont know feedback on that would be nice.
Thank you for all your suggestions I am giving them all thought. Please keep them coming.
