Honest opinions about the name Lola?

I've loved this name for so long, and I got excited when I saw it dropped from #211 to #243 on the popularity list. I have a 7 month old daughter named Rowan and when I think of another daughter in the future, Lola is the only name I get excited about. But every time I mention it, people either go "Eh, it's okay" or they start singing Copa Cabana. What are your honest opinions on the name? If you met an actual little girl named Lola, what would you immediately think?

I absolutely love Lola! I didn't used to like it at all, but then I met the cutest little girl named Lola a few years ago at work, and she just made it work so well. I can't imagine a Lola that doesn't charm her way into everyone's hearts. It's so sweet and spunky and I adore it. It does seem a bit cutesy so I would use it as a NN for something (Charlotte nn Lola is my choice), but I would absolutely love meeting another little Lola. I love it.

Rowan and Lola are very cute together! Since Rowan is a bit unisex, I like the idea of another unisex name with it, like Rowan and Harlow (nn Lola)... just as they are, I think I would assume Lola was a girl and Rowan was a boy.

    Good luck!

Honestly, I don't like it at all. I've warmed up to it- I used to absolutely hate it- but I just don't think it ages well. I do like it for a kid, but it seems almost too spunky- I can only picture a little girl with lots of Moxie, not a strong adult woman. I know lots of pets and inanimate objects (like guitars and cars and stuff- I have strange friends) named Lola, and it just seems very young and nicknamey. I really like Leila/Laila/Layla and Lily, but I just don't care for any of the other double-L girls' names. And like Ashley, I' assume that Rowan was a boy with a sister named Lola.

I think Lola is beautiful but when I think about a professional adult with a career, I just don't see it. I love it for a child and also for an older person sitting on their stoop in their rocking chair but it's the in between adult stage that I'm struggling with...

I've tried to find names that I could use Lola as a nickname, but I would always call her Lola. We call Rowan "Ro" sometimes...how cute would Ro and Lo be? What are some full names I could use? I'm not very imaginative I guess...

Love it and is in the top 100 in Australia.
If we have a girl she will be London nickname Lola. No one her generation will think of the song it is such a strong, pretty, timeless name I think. People will get use to it if you love it use it.

I love it. Either as a nickname, or on it's own.

I love Lola but strictly as a NN (we're using Lorelei as the FN) I just can't see Lola aging well. Also, I really dont think it works well with Rowan. Rowan is unisex and Lola is very girly, like pp said if I saw the sibset on paper I'd think Rowan was Lola's brother. I like the suggestion of Harlow NN Lola though. Something with the same sound but more edgy and not as frilly, Zola.

I like Lola. I think its pretty and am also considering it for a future second daughter. The only thing that makes me hesitate is its meaning: "lady of sorrows." If you're not big into meanings then go for it.
