Two questions. Please help.
Okay so I have two separate questions. I hope you can help me!!!
1. Anchor. My hubby saw it written down in my baby name notebook and said he loved it. Actually he called it bada$$. Which is fantastic, I guess. But here's my dilemma. Our last name is Miller. AND we already have a son that I broke the rhymey end rule with... DextER MillER. How do you think it flows? Anchor Miller. Also any nn suggestions?
2. Connie. I already have a girls name picked out so this is total theoretical if I were to have a second girl in the far future. Anyway, My grandmother's name is Corrine but she goes by Connie. And while I like Corrine nn Connie, I don't think it will go with my other children's names. So do you know of any other names that can produce the nn Connie? Other than Constance<I like it but not enough. I love word names. I love vintage names. I love English names.
Okay there it is. Thanks in advance.Mommy to Pilot David Patrick (5), Dexter Audio (3) and Happy Cordelia (new!)
If I could have another... Aziza/ Beatrix/ Bluejay/ Fern/ Ingrid/ Marigold/ Norma/ Temple/ Viola
Anchor/ Cedar/ Cove/ Dudley/ Forth/ Hanes/ Moss/ Thicket/ Ward/ Wolfgang

Anchor is awful, just awful. It's NOT a name for christsake. I hate this fad where everyone tries to be so unique by coming up with stupid names that are not even names. The rhyme-y-ness of the ending of the name with your last name would be the last of my worries.

It may be becoming more popular now to use word names and it may be a "fad" but people have been giving there kids word names since colonial days. I have two ancestors named Goodwife and Mindwell from the early 1800s. If I said I was naming him Hunter or a girl Holly or June I'm betting you wouldn't have commented as you did because you recognize them as names when in fact, they are words. I don't knock people down for considering yet another Mason or Isabella. I respect everyone's style and if I have nothing nice to say about another's name, I either offer other suggestions or say nothing at all. I grew up an Amanda and I wish my name was s

1. Our last name has two syllables and ends in -er, too, and my brother chose Walter for his first son. His wife is currently expecting, and they plan to use Peter if it's a boy. I really don't think it's a big deal, and Anchor Miller flows as well as Pilot Miller or Dexter Miller, imo. As far as nicknames go, Anchor doesn't seem to lend itself to any except Ani/Annie (or maybe Captain or Sailor?). I guess would just think of it as a no-nickname-name or allow a nickname to develop naturally over time, perhaps based on his personality or appearance.
2. Connie could come from Constant or Concordia, perhaps? It's more of a stretch, but there's also Colleen, Coriander, Cornelia, or Corona. You could also gender-bend a bit and look at names like Deacon, Connor, and Corin.

1. Personally I find Anchor Miller a little difficult to say, but not a terrible name. They only nn I can think of is Core or Ank (like Hank without the H), but that seems a little weird. Sorry I'm not much help there.
2. Names that could give you nn Connie
Names that begin or end with "con"
Connelly
Constantina
Constancy
Falcon
Macon
names that contain C O and N
Corbin
Coralyn
Colleen
