I knew an Eilidh from Scotland. She pronounced her name Ay-lee (Ay as in hay). I think Eilidh is a Scottish name, rather than Irish.

I would go for Isla or Ayelet and nn her Islie or Ayelie. That way you're using a legitimate name and not making one up.

I know a girl named Eye-lee who spells it Eilidh. No one EVER gets it right. Her response is, "EYE-lee. It's a Welsh name."

Isla would probably be a better option, I think people will mispronounce it much less often.

My friend's daughter is biracial (half Chinese, half American) and she uses the Mandarin spelling, Aili, and it means love and beauty in Chinese.

But I think Irish/Welsh spellings are different.
