Has any one ever gone through this?

I am having a down day and just wondered if anyone had ever gone through this (im sure there are a few of us out there!) I want to have a baby so bad, always have! But my husband is not ready to make the big sacrifices and we still need to save up more money. However, I missed my period this month and thought I had accidentally gotten pregnant at the end of my last cycle during the last day of my placebo pill. I never did get my period but my pregnancy tests were all negative. Needless to say, though it isn't the "perfect time" to get pregnant, I was secretly hoping to be pregnant. After my third negative pregnancy test this morning I am concerned and trying to hide that I am disappointed. I am also concerned as to why I have not had my period. I do not miss periods since I have been on both control. I have considered a ghos pregnancy, like maybe I psyched myself out or something and caused myself to miss a cycle. But I am afraid it could be something more serious. Have any of you ever gone through this disappointment; if so how did you handle it? Also, what do you think could be the cause of my missed period?

I went through something similar last month. I have wanted another baby for several months now. It's not the perfect time for me to get pregnant, but it wouldn't be horrible, either. My husband said he wasn't ready for another one. I thought I was pregnant and took two tests. Both were negative. I was so confused because I could definitely see changes in my body that I experienced while pregnant twice before, but I didn't have the feeling I had before that I KNEW I was pregnant. I had probably just stressed myself out because after I did a big presentation that I was really nervous about, I got my period the next morning. It was a week and a half late, maybe a little more. I had a serious discussion with my husband and told him I might be pregnant, that I knew he wasn't ready for another one, but I wanted to be honest with him and prepare him as best I could. He was relieved when I wasn't prengnant, and to be honest, now so am I. I was so disappointed at first, and now I realize that it really was for the best. In less than a year we will be moving 1,000 miles away, and it would have really stunk to have a wonderful doctor here and deliver the baby in another state with a doctor I hardly knew. So in that regard I am happy. We are making sacrifices now for our future, and also for our future children in addition to the two we have now. I love my boys soooo much and I want to give them everything I can, and it really wouldn't be fair to bring another baby in our family right now. On the other hand, after my "pregnancy scare" last month, my husband came to me last week and said he does want another one now, but he feels that we should wait just a few more months. (Til August or so.) So maybe if you talked to your SO about it, you would find a similar situation? I know how hard it is to want a baby and go through what you're going through now. I think the best thing you can do is talk to your SO about it. You could be pregnant and your body just has very low hCG hormones. I made an appt with my OB to get a blood pregnancy test, since I was worried my hCG levels could be low, and that will throw off some of the pregnancy symptoms, too. I'm really sorry you're struggling with this right now. It's very difficult to be in your situation and I hope that whatever happens is the best thing for you and your SO! Best of luck to you.
Proud mommy to Nicolas Alexander (3) and Ethan Scott (1). Would loooove to have a little girl in our family next!

Threw out the old list. Looking for a new one!

As for the missed period, I have gotten those quite a few times. For me it's because I am super stressed out. It might be because you really want a child, but your husband doesn't so you are getting a bit stressed out, which lead to missing your period. It could also be because you want a baby really bad, your body is reacting to that and giving you pregnant like symptoms, it's rare, but not unheard of.

Also pregnancy tests aren't totally reliable and can be wrong, so maybe you should see your doctor just be sure? At least if you miss another period. I have missed before, but never two in a row.

The mind can definitely have a lot of power over the body and I have had similar things but I think it is important to see the doctor asap to find out what is going on. The way these things work, you'll probably get your period on your way to the appointment, but it could be any number of reasons (including a real pregnancy!) and you should have it checked out right away.

I'm not trying to get your hopes up, but it is possible that you've gotten a false negative because you're so barely pregnant there isn't enough hormone in your body to give you a positive result.
I'd wait maybe another 3 days and test again. It is possible. At the same time, there could be any number of reasons for your period being late. My cycle has also changed like yours has, and I too, thought I was pregnant. Its heartbreaking and upsetting but just know that one day you will get your baby.
I feel for you, I'm in the same boat. We aren't exactly trying, just letting nature take its course. Now wouldn't be an ideal time for us either but I would be totally overjoyed if I fell pregnant now.
Best of luck, I'll be thinking of you.

I really appreciate all of the feedback. Just knowing other people have felt the same way, are currently feeling the same way, and getting input on what may be going on has helped to make me feel a great deal better!
Special thanks to strawberryshortcake. Knowing someone out there is thinking of me is always a great encouragement and to me especially!
Pam, that is great advice. I am a teacher and I am currently working at a difficult job that keeps me stressed. School ends in 2 weeks so I was thinking I would make an appointment then. Is that too late? Many that I am close with have said that they think it is just the stress from my job. But I am equally if not less stressed about my job this month than I have been the past 3 months. So I can't see how that would have thrown me off for this month.
I agree that the mind has some strange powers and I kind of think if I would let it go and accept that I am probably not pregnant I wuld start. But who knows?

The body is weird. You may think you have same the stress level, but your body can disagree. I have missed a period just because I was stressed over having so much homework, but when I was stressing over my Senior Thesis, I still got my period.... But like others said, if it hasn't happened before, you might want to get it checked out. The first time I missed I didn't really think about it, but knew I couldn't be pregnant since I didn't have sex.... I was also in middle school so I was hoping I wouldn't ever get another one, haha!

I think the best thing for you is just to see a doctor and find out.

Well should I refrain from starting my next month of birth control?

I have no idea as to how dangerous it'd be for you to be on b/c if you are indeed pregant. When are you due to start taking your next pack? I'd keep taking tests to be sure, or see your doctor. There has to be a reason for this delay, even if you aren't pregnant there could be something else.
Were you ill in the middle of the month, could there be a chance you ovulated late? If you ovulated late, your period will be late.

I would defiantly refrain until you find out from a doctor if your are pregnant or not, I don't think it is safe for the baby and I have heard they can cause miscarriages....
