I think it is far from tacky. If you love the name, go for it. Don't look back.

Its not a big deal at all. Go with the names you love the most. I sign just my initials in my signature but it so loopy you couldn't even tell what they are. Its rare to know many peoples middle name let alone put together the initials. Even if they did, so what? It's not KKK or A*$ or anything negative. Go with your gut!

It's funny you ask that because the middle name will be Samuel, and that's steadfast. Our last name is "A", so that can't change It just ends up that those "U" names are ones we like. We did consider Ulysses, but hubby isn't too keen on it.

to nono: I do like those alternative names, especially since I like a lot of boy names that start with "E"! However, Emery, Emmett, and Henry are too common, though Emmerich I really like! Thanks for the insight!

My initials are MOP. People never really teased me about my initals, it was more of a "Huh, you're initals spell mop!". And that was only when they actaully realized that it spellt that. When people would ask my middle name I'd tell them, but even then they wouldn't normally put my initials together. Sometimes I would actually bring up the fact that my initals spellt mop, just to get a laugh. In grade school I remember no one was ever really teased for their initials. It was more of a fun thing to see what your initals spellt. I knew a girl whose initalts were DNA, but no one ever teased her.

I think if you came up with a combo that you loved that just happened to have the initials USA, that it would be fine. I think choosing a U first name just so that you can have the initials USA would be silly.

I see nothing wrong with it. I NEVER use my three initials together. He may love it and really live up to it too haha. Go for it.

I agree with this- if it just happens that his initials are USA who cares? that's kind of cool! plus if you ever get things embroidered you can go with the last name in the middle option making it UAS.

I think as long as you stay away from initials like ASS and VAG you are generally good.

I don't think the USA initials will be noticed very often, it's quite subtle. I do, however, think that it is not only in countries unfriendly to the US this choice of initials would be met with sceptisism. For example, I would say that in most European countries the American patriotism is not understood (it is seen as fanatic rather than something positive). It is something to be aware of at least, but I don't think it will be much of an issue really, since I don't think the initials would be noticed unless he would want them to be.

I personally wouldn't do it, but then again I am not a big fan of America. I may have been born and live here, but that doesn't mean I like it, it's just better than some other places.......

But I can't see it being a problem overall unless you go around flaunting that his initials are USA.

I think it's more about the name rather than the initials I mean unless the initials were something but horrible like ASS or POO or BUM or something, considering those alternatives USA is pretty cool especially since your family seems pretty patriotic, I mean my initials are LLMM double double lots of trouble my mum used to tell me but other than that no one has ever really commented on my initials and I can't remember ever commenting on anyone elses... what U names are you thinking of?
