    Phineas

Is Phineas "too much"? Do you know anyone named Phineas? Do you know any Finns? What do you think of August "Gus", Theodore "Theo", and Phineas "Finn" together?

    Thanks!

I like Finn very much. I think Phineas is becoming more common but I also think it's a name he's going to be spelling for other people for the rest of his life (and as someone w/ a complicated name to spell - that does get old!)

LOVE Phineas! It's probably my favorite Finn name. My only concern is that Eli's son, Phinehas, didn't have the best reputation. That puts me off a bit, as the Bible is a huge part of my family's lives, and the likelihood that my children wouldn't come across their Biblical counterpart sometime in the family worships or mommy-and-son/mommy-and-daughter conversations of their childhood is very slim. I've heard there are other, better Phineases in the Bible, but I haven't found them yet... still, I think Phineas is a great name! I love it, and I love August, Theodore, and Phineas/Gus, Theo, and Finn together! I definitely don't think Phineas is too much.

    Good luck!

I love August and Theodore and I think Phinneas goes okay with them. I like the sound of Phinneas but all I think of is the cartoon Phinneas and Ferb as I work with kids. I've never met a real life Finn, but a girl I work with is naming her son Finnegan. I love that one and I think Finn is a very handsome name/nickname.

I love Phineas, but I admit I don't know one. It seems to be getting more well-known, though. I think August "Gus," Theodore "Theo," and Phineas "Finn" work very well together.
BTW, Aaron's grandson Phinehas was the "good one."

I love Phineas! I can't decide if I am brave enough to use it though. I would love to see it become maybe a bit more popular. Ashley, that was my original concern with Phinehas too. I had marked it off my list until I found that there is a good Phinehas in the Bible too. He was Aaron's grandson. Check out Numbers 25:7. He is mentioned off and on in Joshua and Judges also. And once in a Psalm. Psalm 106:30. I love biblegateway.com :-)

    Bless you!

I had asked about it earlier but someone else had just told me about Eli's son, and that wasn't the one I wanted connected to my son! lol. I like some Bible characters more (i.e. Caleb, Joshua, and Daniel!), but I'm happy enough that there was a good Phinehas, so it's back as an option as a MN. I like Phineas as a FN, too, but I just don't think it fits as well with my other favorite FNs...

    I love biblegateway.com, too, lol.

I love Phineas! One of my fave names for a boy and I would use it as a name for a younger brother of Theodore! I have a friend with a son called Finn who is gorgeous!

I am kind of on board with Phineas for you but then I thought of a name that I haven't heard of in a long time - Harald/Harold and I think that this would work especially if you live in the UK.
