    Jessica Simpson's baby name...

I thought I'd make a post and get some reactions to her naming her DAUGHTER....

    Maxwell Drew Johnson

    I'm utterly speechless.

Ugh. She could have at least picked a feminine middle name for that extremely masculine first name. Or gone with Maxine, which is you know, the girl's version of Maxwell pretty much? Oh and from what I read earlier she's going to call her Maxi. Poor kid will be made fun of 24/7 :-(

I really don't like it! I can't believe she's given her daughter not one but two very masculine, all boy names! But then, she's not the brightest is she?

*facepalm* For the love of all that is holy, Maxwell is not a girl's name! There is nothing remotely feminine about it. What was wrong with Maxine? I really had no expectations for what Jessica Simpson was going to name her baby, but geeze, it's like she wasn't even trying.

Strongly dislike. First or middle should have been more feminine. Especially since she boasted and bragged about her daughter has no choice but to be a girly girl and won't play sports. I heard the rumours about the name Maxi. So why not just call her Maxi? Ugh.

Sigh. Poor little baby. I'm just going to pretend they named her Maxine in my head. Maxine is a perfectly legitimate, acceptable girls name. Baby Johnson is going to be Maxine in my eyes

I don't think it's that bad. 1. She's a celebrity. They do whatever they want name wise. 2. It's her husbands middle name - Maxwell. And her mothers maiden name - Drew. At least she put SOME thought in to it and it seems to be very meaningful. I think if she woulda come out and said that they chose that - it woulda been a little more shocking. But it's her husbands middle name!! Give it a break!!

Good respectful point of view there. There are alot of celebs that don't go by their given name too. Would you have guessed that Calamaity Jane's real name was Martha Jane? And Ted Nugent real name is Theodore Anthony.

@sunrise16--I'm glad you knew that. I had read an article a while back that said when people heard the name, they'd understand why it was chosen, but I certainly didn't. I think the name is a very nice name...for a boy...a girl, not so much.

I don't think there is anything wrong with Maxwell on a girl. Somebody was the first to name a girl Taylor and all the other names that for so long seem masculine. I dont see what is so different about the use of Maxwell. At first, it shocked me, but it is already growing on me. However, I don't like that she gave her a traditionally masculine middle name. It's unisex, sure, but paired with the controversial male fn she will always, forever be mistaken for a boy. That's sad. But at the end of the day, she is a celebrity kid so the same rules don't apply. Her cousin is worse off with the name Bronx Mowgli!
