But that's exactly why I think Avery's going to be dated really quickly, and if I was changing my name, I would want something that stood out in a good way, but fit with the naming style of my age group, or just a cool name for ANY generation, you know? I don't think Avery really fits that, personally. The names in-style and popular right now are great names, but it always seemed a little weird to change my name to something that's going to be dated to my children's generation, not mine.
I will have to second this. Avery is nice for both genders, but on a girl it's incredibly exclusive to the much younger age groups so until they grow up it would be peculiar on anyone over the age of ten. If I heard of a teenaged Avery I would automatically assume boy.

As for Avarei, it feels more complicated than it needs to be. I think it would be misspelled and mispronounced a lot, especially as Avery is getting popular with variant spellings based on Ava such as Avary. So Ava-Rae would be more ideal.

If it's Ava/Avery alternatives you want, consider some of these (I love the name Ava and have been compiling the alternatives for a while, hehe):
    Averyn (AVV-uh-rin)
    Averina (avv-uh-REEN-a)
    Amery / Amory
    Adalee
    Avocet
    Avalee (as mentioned by dancersventure)
    Avalyn
Eva (also there is Evalee and Evelyn)
    Averell / Averill
    Ayla
    Ada
    Aza
    Aya
    Avalon
Avelaine, Aveline and Avelina as mentioned by ashthedreamer
    Avila
    Avril
    Avis
    Avra (AYV-ra or AY-vra)
    Evany
    Ara
    Avonlea
    Avia
    Avon / Aven
    Avie

I said it AVV-ah-rye when I first saw it, not AVE-er-ee, and I wouldn't have gotten that it was Avery without seeing that you had posted it, and I know you've been thinking about Avery lately. I agree with the others, Ava Rae (or even something with a longer Rae name, like Ava Rachel or Ava Raven, etc.) would be better, imo.

Maybe I'm alone in that. But as you know, I do love Avery.

But I think Ava might be a great choice for you, despite the fact that it's hugely popular right now? It feels a bit exotic, and yet still oh-so-sweet, which really seems to fit what I know of you, and that picture you posted several months ago. Ava Charlotte is really sweet, and I can see Ava being stylish enough to be striking for a singer/musician/rockstar, hehe. It sort of has this bird vibe to it, to me, a la Aviana and avian and such, and birds are known for singing, you know. I really like it for you, but I'm not sure how much you like just Ava. My gender preferences for Avery aside, I think Ava is just a better name all around. If you want something a bit obscure, Aveline or Avelina or Avelaine, nn Ava, would be lovely...

    Good luck!
Avarei was just a general musing, I wasn't thinking of it for myself. It literally just popped into mind, and I wanted some feedback on it.

For myself though, I do really love Averie, I like that it's the french spelling, and is legitimate on it's own. I don't really mind the younger generation feel to it in this case. Plus it's fresher, and more feminine to me. I like Avery for a boy.
Ava is great, but it's a bit too short for me. I'd feel kinda incomplete going from 7 letters/3 syllables to 3 letters/2 syllables.
    But it's an idea!

    I like Aviana,but it's my cousin's girlfriend's name so that's a bit of a no no. Aveline & co. is nms.

Definitely go with Avery much prettier, classier and you can't go wrong with the pronounciation. Love Avalon good suggestion!
