    Exclamation Spanish and English

    IDEAS PLEASE!
My husband and I are due on the 8th...in 8 days. And we don't have a name. We don't know the gender either but have a strong feeling of boy. So here is what our problem is. Our first son is Mario Alejandro. Works well in both languages. Now we don't know what to name our second.

Hubster has turned down all names I have thrown at him. But today he finally told me he wants to use his middle name, Alberto as one of our baby's names. I have to choose the other. So now I am just looking for ideas that work with Alberto.

Hmm, a few ideas (my husband's Hispanic, so I know how tough it is to find a name that works in both languages!):

    Carlo
    Cruz
    Erico (really like this!)
    Isidro
    Joaquin
    Luciano
    Rafael
    Rey
Theo / Teo (really like these, too)

    Good luck!

What has he turned down? Do you want a theme? Common or uncommon? Short or long? What are no-goes?
Most Spanish names are easy unless you live in an area where people have little to no exposure to Latin people

If you want the same initials:
Miguel, Mateo, Marcelo, Marcos, Martin, Maximo, Merlin

If you want names that end in O:
Lazaro, Alvaro (my honey's name), Fernando, Francisco, Navarro, Lorenzo, Reynaldo, Alonso, Santiago, Diego

    Others:
    Leal
    Eduard/Eduardo
    Oliver/Oliverio
    Santana
    Xabier/Xavier/Javier
    Julian/Juliano/Julio
    Quintin
    Benjamin
    Santos
    Agustin
Josef/Joseph (I love the nn Pep)
    Salvador
    Felix
    Luis

I chuckled at this - of course WE think they're easy in Florida and California, but try Reynaldo out in Kentucky and see how that works. :P

I don't like to repeat initials for siblings so dropping out my M choices my most favourite Spanish names are probably Joaquin, Gabriel, Rafael, Zacarias, and Natanael.

I think Rafael and Gabriel are probably the simplest back-and-forth Spanish/English translation. As in there hardly is any. Joaquin is straight forward enough for most to handle but it's not as simple and familiar as those two angel names. Zacarias is pretty easy too.

Of course a name like Guillermo would be difficult but many Spanish names look the way they are pronounced. Even if you are unfamiliar with it you can figure it out. My family is from the boonies in N.Florida, Georgia, and Alabama. They had no problem sounding out Al-va-ro (some say al-vair-a or av-a-ro but he doesn't mind), and Lorenzo and Navarro are family names

Well, maybe it's just me coming from Appalachia and now living in California - tons of people back home seem to butcher my husband's (relatively common and simple) Spanish surname. Haha.

Haha that's funny, that's exactly my dilemma when choosing a name. Wouldn't it be funny to go out in the street and ask random people with different accents to read a name? Lol. It would be so insightful!
