Those who dont mind unisex/ "boy names on girls" only

If you dont like the "trend" of unisex names then you won't like this post. But feel free to respond anyway, of course!

I have always liked the Ezra for a girl. I would like to name a girl Ezra Kate. But recently I have started to like Lucca Kate for a girl. Luke is my brothjers name so I thought that would be kind of cool.

    So which do you prefer?

Lucca Kate or Ezra Kate. Probably will be the sister of Harper Laci

I don't mind certain unisex names, but I guess I don't like boys names on girls, as I do think there are some names that are just gender-specific. Ezra is one I couldn't really picture on a girl, so out of the two I think Lucca is better. I assume you'll be pronouncing it 'luke-ah?'

Lucca seems like a feminine version of Luke to me anyway, so I see it as very girly. I like it more than Ezra.

I typically hate boy's names on girls but I just had to see what names were mentioned. Honestly, I've always felt Ezra was a little feminine. I have no idea why! I still might side-eye it, but less than Lucca IMO. Lucca also seems misspelled. Why not Lucia? I like that more anyways :-)

I'm not a fan of boy names on girls, to be honest, although between Lucca and Ezra, I'd pick Lucca because at least I can associate that particular spelling with a girl to a point.

@jennipea382: Lucca may not possibly be a misspelling, really. I'm guessing it's a reference to Lucca from Chrono Trigger, who was most certainly a girl.

For girls, I prefer Lucca (though I'd rather see Luca or Luka) over Ezra, but I don't really care for the flow of Lucca Kate. There's so much hard C/K sound in the middle; I think it sounds a little too much like something being stammered.

I guess I'd pick Lucca with a different middle name. If Kate's a for sure thing, I pick Ezra Kate.

I guess I have to say that I am not opposed to unisex names or "boys names on girls" since we are using Arrow for our girl (which I've been told that it is very strongly a boy's only name but I can only see it as girly with that spelling). BUT, I just read the other day in the front of my new baby names book something that I thought was rather interesting: "The gender "assignment" of names change - often in surprising ways. For years, Ashley was used often for boys. (Remember Ashley Wilkes in Gone With The Wind?) Twenty-five years ago, it was in the top 300 of boys' names. Today it doesn't crack the top 1000, whereas it's the eighth-most-popular name for girls. In 2000, over twice as many boys than girls were named Reese. By 2004, actress Reese Witherspoon had helped those numbers switch places - now nearly twice as many girls than boys are named Reese."

That said, Ezra is close enough to Esther that I believe it could work. Esp with a middle name like Kate. And Luca is in my book for girls as a form of Lucy. Luca in the boys sections is as a form of Luke. So you could probably get away with Lucca Kate or Ezra Kate.

I prefer Ezra Kate 'cause Lucca Kate has more K sounds.
