2-3. Since my Dh and I live in NYC, we probably will just have two.

I have 4 now and may consider a 5th in 3 or 4 years. I do have guilt about overpopulating the world as well. I love my babies but really how many people does the world need? Good thing we have a few years to think about adding a 5th. Our home doesn't really have room for another but in 4 years my son will be (hopefully) off to University.

Originially I wanted five now that I am expecting my third and fourth we are thinking in the seven to nine range. I can't understand why so many people have a preoccupation with thinking the world is overpopulated. The first world is underpopulated and we can't even maintain our population because of our poor birth rate. In Canada we have to have 250,000 immigrants a year just to maintain our population. So instead of having the educated and affluent having children who are able to care for them and raise them to be productive members of society we have essentially the underclass mass populating the world. In my country we have had a huge increase in crime because of having to allow these immigrant populations into our country. If we would just have enough children we would not have to deal with so many of these issues.

Wow. I usually make an effort not to be blunt, but this is one of the most ignorant, arrogant, mean-spirited, bigoted posts I've read on here. Perhaps crime would not be so prevalent if the "underclass," as you say, were treated with more dignity. I hope the affluent, educated children with whom you feel it is your civic duty to populate the world are more humane and sensitive to the plight of people who are struggling than you.

I've always wanted a minimum of 4, but I honestly don't have a limit. Nothing crazy like the duggars, but as long as it works financially, I don't see a number as "too much". I'm a live-in nanny for 5 very young girls so I like to think if I can handle that, then I can do any number.
As long as it works financially with us, that is.

Educated, affluent people are not more deserving of children than those who are less educated. Why should your wealth and education make you more entitled to have a big family? I can't believe my eyes.
Also, the crime issues in your country are due to your the attitude of the general population and the quality of law enforcement. If there was a higher quality of law enforcement, there would be a lower crime rate. Immigrants have nothing to do with this. I'm really shocked, so I don't know what else to say on the matter, only that I think you are very, very wrong.

I doubt I'd have more than one or two, mostly because it will be expensive and time consuming for me to have children. I also don't want to ever carry a child and go through pregnancy and birth, so if it's more than one, the other children will likely be adopted.
