What do you think of my list?

    Hello there!

I'm a longtime lurker of this forum and I was wondering what you thought of these name crushes of mine.

Our surname starts with a P and rhymes with Shorter... Ten points to whoever can guess it!

Well, unfortunately the "er" ending clashes with some of my favourite boys' names. Well, _er _er sounds a bit singsongy. You catch my drift.

If we had a son it's a given that his middle name will be James, as per tradition in my husband's family.

Here's my list; let me know what you think!

    Blake
Griffin (My mother's maiden name. I love the idea of using it, but with our surname it sounds a bit odd)
    Miles
    Reginald (Reggie)
    Vincent
    Theodore (Theo)
    Noel
    Magnus
    Alastair
    Joseph
    Wilfred
    William
    Ellis
    Russell
    Edgar

I'll add a few more if I think of them.

Blake - NMS. Not a fan of this one.
Griffin (My mother's maiden name. I love the idea of using it, but with our surname it sounds a bit odd) - Absolutely, positively do not like this name. On anyone. Ever. For a last name, it's great. For a first name, it's awful.
Miles - Love this. So classic with the middle name James and it goes so well with your last name.
Reginald (Reggie) - Ok. NMS, but it's nice.
Vincent - Doesn't go well with James.
Theodore (Theo) - Nice. Not as good as Miles, but ok.
Noel - Love this one. Ties with Miles, IMO.
Magnus - No. Don't like at all.
Alastair - Ok. Classic, but NMS.
Joseph - Love it. The alliteration sounds wonderful with your last name.
    Wilfred - No.
William - Ok. Classic to the point of almost boring, though.
Ellis - Love it. Unusual but not absurd, and sounds great with James.
Russell - Eh. Not a fan.
Girls - Abigail, Georgianna, Anne, Charlotte, Claire, Genevieve, Annette, Eliza, Felicity, Hannah, Noelle, Eugenie, Grace, Phoebe, Philippa, Cecilia, Cecily, Elizabeth, Hollis, Piper, Lorelei, Vivienne, Paige, Carolina, Isobel, Lucy, Molly, Georgia, Victoria, Naomi

Boys - Bobby Sparklefritz until H can offer suggestions. Ones I like: Rory, Owen, Tyler, Ian, Elliot, Alexander, Ephraim, Levi, Jacob, Reid, Avery, Nathan, Miles, Jasper, Spencer, Toby, Dean, Philip

Blake -- I like Blake okay, but it seems a little boring to me
Griffin -- I absolutely LOVE Griffin!
    Miles -- Very handsome
Reginald (Reggie) -- Love this one too, very distinguished and Reggie is adorable
Vincent -- handsome and classic and Vince is a great nn
Theodore (Theo) -- I've never liked Theodore too much, but I LOVE Theo
    Noel -- nms
Magnus -- Love it but it can come off as a bit too overbearing
Alastair -- LOVE this is a great name, sophisticated and handsome
Joseph -- boring to me, but a fine classic name
Wilfred -- I don't like this one, it's a bit too old fashioned to me
    William -- Love it!
Ellis -- It's fine but not really my style
Russell -- This one always seems kind of hillbillyish to me
Edgar -- I like it, but it's not my favorite Ed- name (Edwin and Edmund are)

Theodore and Miles are definitely my favourites on your list, alot of the others I see as great middle names; Blake, William, Joseph, Vincent - all too traditional for me.

Edgar is adorable and I knew the cutest little boy ever with this name and it's only given me a positive association.

I like that Griffin is your mother's maiden name but if it's odd with your last name, maybe it would be OK in the middle? Theodore Griffin?

Russell, Alastair, Magnus, Noel and Wilfred aren't my style at all.

Ellis is OK and actually my grandmother's favourite name, something like Ellis Theodore would be cute.

I like Reggie but Reginald seems wrong for a child.

    Ellis James is my vote.

Theodore I like better as just Theo.
Don't like Miles, Russell, Alastair, Magnus, Noel, Reginald & Wilfred at all.
    Edgar is alright.
Blake, William, Joseph and Vincent are too traditional for me.
Griffin seems more for a cat than a kid to me. I don't know why.

Griffin - I'm loving that it's your mom's maiden name - although its not really my style I would pick this name for that reason - Griffin James is very handsome!
Miles - I really love this name right now
Reginald (Reggie) - Ok - but I would think of Reginald Jeeves but the reference is so obscure I doubt most ppl would think the same
Vincent - Vincent James is such a wonderful combo in my opinion LOVE IT!
Theodore (Theo) - Love this one!
    Noel - NMS
Magnus - My favorite from your list - LOVE LOVE IT!
    Alastair - My 2nd favorite!
    Joseph - nms
Wilfred - nms but i love its uniqueness
    William - Love this
    Ellis - nms
    Russell - nms at all
    Edgar - 3rd favorite!
