My cousin named her daughter Aurora with the intention to call her Rory, but she's five years old now and mostly she gets called Monkey!
Name-obsessed future veterinarian who currently only has babies of the feline variety (Sedona, Loki, Oliver, and Penelope). Enjoys doting upon her much younger cousins: Alexandra Michal, Jordan Liam, Evan Jacob, Rachel Mikayla, Aurora Estelle, and the newest addition Charlotte Ann (4/8/13).

Being a gymnastics coach and having kids in the same group with the same name, I was usually the one bestowing the nicknames on the kids.
    Usually they were related though!
It's going to be a long, hot summer but at the end will be a wonderful prize!
Expecting a baby boy August 25,2012-tentatively to be named Avery Jay!
    Names I still love...
    Girls- Amelia, Keeley, Elliott, Margaret
    Boys-Lennox, Eli, Rory, Killian

I'm posting again because I had my younger sister over this last weekend and realized that she has an unrelated nn too!

Her name is Amber. When my husband and I first met and started dating, he would only come to my house (as his grandparents didn't like me). We were 13 and my sister was 3. She would constantly come into the room! By the time we were 15 and Amber was 5, he had to spend half the time he was at my house with Amber too because she wouldn't leave. He started calling her Bug because she was bugging him so much. No that we're married and Amber is 11, he still calls her Bug. He only ever calls her Amber when she's making him annoyed or she's in trouble. She won't let anyone else call her Bug either, only Cody!

I can't even remember the last time my dad called my brother or me by our given names. He calls me Ed, Eddy, Edda, or Eddagirl because when I was young I had such sinus trouble that with a stopped up nose the doubble r's in Sierra came out Siedda. We call my brother Bo even though his name is Elijah. He used to say he was "dada's bo" for daddy's boy and it just stuck. My mom calls me Ashley because I announced that I was changing my name to Ashley when I was two and refused to answer to anything else for a long time. I like them. Now I kind of someone using my given name with being in trouble since that was the only time it was used haha!
Obsessed with names since...forever. TTC now, so even more obsessed.

    Current Faves:
    Cordelia Ann
    Eleanor Amelia

My name is Tara, but I'm th youngest of 5 and I was born tiny/premature, so my family calls me Runty (or Runt, or Rug Rat).

In the 5th grade my entire class, including my teacher, called me Maple Syrup, and my friend Kacie was KitKat.

I also had a friend in middle school named Robert, but i didnt think the name fit him, so i nicknamed him Joe Bob, and even his dad started calling him that.

One of the best random nicknames ever though is this guy who was in AFJROTC with me. His name was Timothy, but we all called him Person. Me and a friend wrote an entire short novel about him, with the character named Person.

This hasn't happened in my family to anyone really except my older sister Hannah. All the rest of us have nn related to our given names, but Hannahs name just works for so many things! You have all the regulars, Hanny, Hansy, HanHan, Hans, etc. But Hansy turned into Hansy-Pansy which turned into just Pansy. Then Hanny turned into Manny turned into Manuel and Manfred, which is my personal favourite and the most used to date!

I'm fairly sure my dad doesn't even know my given name (odd, because he picked it) because I can't remember a single time in my life when he hasn't called me Bean, which is in no way, shape, or form even remotely related in any sense to my given name. I've asked where the name came from, and he can't even remember!

My sister, Valerie, went by Val-Val most of her childhood instead of just Val. My name is Olivia and I usually go by Liv (to be expected) but sometimes my sister calls me Home-dawg (seriously. I even answer to it.) and I'll call her Fizzy. Those nick names started out as jokes but they stuck. :/

Im a Tara who is called Bear too! Well, my best friend Christina calls me this. She's Bean from Christina-bean & I'm Bear from Tare-Bear...since forever!

My daughter is Leonie who I figured would be Lee or Leo or Leah? Maybe Leelee? Nope, she's Minnie all the way. Why? Cause we marvel at the fact that she's a miniature person!
