Back to the drawing board... names for Baby #3, sibling for Rupert and Eleanor? HELP!
Hello everyone!
The more my husband and I have been thinking, the more difficult it's been for us to create a boy's list that we really love. The girl's list has been easy, and come together so perfectly (we're almost set on a top contender!), but the boy's list is all over the place.
We're keeping the gender of Baby #3 a surprise! So we're trying to make both a boy name option and a girl name option.
We have two children, Rupert Grey and Eleanor Lilac. I think we'd love to keep the middle-name-as-a-color trend going, so if you have any suggestions for color names, let us know!
Our last boys list seemed a little too mainstream to fit in with our other children's names. They were a little boring for us.
So here's our revised boy's list, full of spunkiness:
Samuel (Still here because we like how classic it is!)
Philip (nn Pip!)
Arthur
Vincent (Not so sure about this one anymore, but DH likes it)
Edmund (A new love of mine!)
Louis
Phineas (nn Finn!)
Walter
Byron (Swooning over this one because of the poet Lord Byron...)
Silas
Ernest
Tobias (This one is tentatively on here. I like it, but not sure if it fits our style)
Color names for the middle:
Cobalt
Silver
Blue
Teal
Agate
Steel
Blaise (This can be considered a color, right?)
Crimson (Love this one!)
Non-color names we like for the middle name:
West
Jasper
Forest
We really need your opinions, and would love your suggestions!Last edited by pompom; April 26th, 2012 at 01:33 AM.

Samuel- Like the name, but doesn't seem to fit with your other kids
Philip- Super cute, and love the nn Pip
Arthur- This one is just okay IMO
Vincent- Seems a little too modern with your other names
Edmund- Adore this with your other kids' names
Louis- Don't like this at all, it is mismatched with your other children
Phineas- ADORE THIS and the nn Finn
Walter- This one is kind of so-so IMO
Byron- Cute, but again It seems a little less classic and a little more modern
Silas- Really like this, great fit with your other names
Ernest- Least favorite on the list
Tobias- I love this name, one of my personal favorites, but not my first choice for matching with your other children
Cobalt- Don't like this one
Silver- I almost feel like this is a little girly

Hey there, as I said in your pp I love your name choices, and I have a Rupert and an Archie too...
Samuel (Still here because we like how classic it is!) - I really like this too, but just way too common near me..
Philip (nn Pip!) - not my fave on your list
Arthur - love this..
Vincent (Not so sure about this one anymore, but DH likes it) - I really like it, but not quite love..
Edmund (A new love of mine!) -I like this too - its growing on me..
Louis - was one of my top 2 boys choices for each of my 3 children - just havent quite used it yet, but love it..
Phineas (nn Finn!) - really like this, but just know a few too many finns..
Walter - a new love...
Byron (Swooning over this one because of the poet Lord Byron...) - havent got on board with this name yet..
Silas - I do like, just wasnt sure it really fitted with my sibset..
Ernest - I really like this, but dont think I could pull it off!!
Tobias (This one is tentatively on here. I like it, but not sure if it fits our style) - I don't think I like this with your sibset,,
Color names for the middle:
Cobalt - great
Silver - ok
Blue - seems a bit feminine to me now, but may sound good with really masculine fn
Teal - I dont love this, but may sound good with the right fn
Agate - as above..
Steel - think this could sound good with the right name
Blaise (This can be considered a color, right?) - great for a middle
Crimson (Love this one!) - I really like this, but cant decide whether it seems more 'girl' to me or not..
Non-color names we like for the middle name:
West
Jasper} all these I like..
Forest
I think I wouldnt put a super common name with your sibset, but thats just me..
On top of your list I would add..
Chester
Claude
I am looking forward to seeing what you pick - your list is helping me with mine

I love Phineas- I think Phineas Blue sounds lovely, or Phineas West.
I also love Arthur, Edmund, and Ernest. I think those would all go well with Blue as a middle name, which is probably my favorite out of the colour options for boys. Alternatively Arthur Forrest sounds nice, as does Edmund Jasper. I'm not a big fan of Philip, but I do like Pip as a nickname.
Rupert Gray, Eleanor Lilac, and Phineas Blue sound great together. I love Rupert- it is one of my favorite names, along with Edmund and Arthur.

I love your list! I also have an eleanor and i´m having so much trouble with a boys name. like you girls names come easily but boys are so tough! I would list which of the names i like from your list and why but then i´d just be listing all of them!
so we´re considering
Oscar
August
Truman
Henry
Arthur
Desmond
As for colour names hrmmm.. Bruno means ´brown´ ... you could do that, look up colours in other languages - maybe one you´re connected to somehow - and get a name that way. Albus is ´white´ in latin, i´ve always thought Azul ¨blue¨ had a great sound to it!
