Here in the UK, Stonewall is the national gay rights movement, which is really cool, so long as you are aware.
I love Oliver/Ollie, but it's been #1 for too long.
Satchel is just the cutest name!!

It's a real shame your missus doesn't like Abel, because I think it's lovely. Even with it's SAMCRO connection.

    Other names for you...

    Reuben
    Sawyer
    Flynn
    Mother to Evelyn Heather

Currently loving: Annabel, Hamish, Bethany, Liam, Violet, Lachlan, Isla, Lennon, Amelie, Callum, Claire, Reuben, Fiona, Rowan, Aurora, Connor, Ever

Thanks to everyone for the great feedback!

It sounds like Abel Stonewall Ervin is a hit with most, as long as we don't think it sounds too similar to sister Ada.

-rachel27, of the names on your list, I would consider Amos, but doubt it flies with wife.
-greyer, again like Amos, wife had Clark on her list.
-Kynleigh88, we both looked at Cy, don't really know why we didn't pursue it, I got the name Cap from Cap Anson.
-jollins-I really like Satchel also, I was surprised it was considered a real name, I searched it on nameberry and it said that Spike Lee and Woody Allen named there sons that. Just can't pull the trigger on it, it says not for non celebrity use. That is some very good info on the Stonewall name, I had no idea, of course the reason I like it is from General Stonewall Jackson from the Civil War. We live in the US so that probably won't come up.
-oddcreature-I must be out of it, what is the SAMCRO connection with Abel?

Thanks again everyone, if anyone has any additional feedback, keep it coming. It really helps.

I forgot to mention that I also love Abner.

I really like Able and Boone with Ada. I also love the suggestion of Archie. How about Archer?

I know you said Kane was from your middle name, but what is the reason you like Abel? Is it the Biblical reference? I'd suggest Seth. Or do you like the old fashion A names: Albert, Avery, Abraham (civil war and bible reference). I was just wondering to help you find a similar feeling name that your wife would like.

Do you have a favorite team?
    Other baseball suggestions:
    Al (Kaline....sorry I'm a Tigers fan)
    Cal
    Casey
    Cobb
Jack (Jackie Robinson and Stonewall Jackson)
    Lou
    Mickey
    Pete
    Reese
    Reggie
    Roger

I like Mac a lot too, but why not just use McKane instead of Mac Kane Ervin?

Also I think Satchel would be fine to use in real life (not just in Hollywood). If it has meaning to you then go for it.

Cap on the other hand feels a little to much like a nickname to be taken seriously (unless he actually becomes a ball player). Campbell, or Casper could get you the nickname Cap.

Personally I'm not really a fan of Abel. I like Abner though. When I was at the Hall of Fame it was Abner and Abbott that really stuck out for me.
