Being that most the country has heard of Phillip Phillips from this season's American Idol...Erv Ervin ain't all that crazy. And I wouldn't be all that surprised to hear of a few more kids popping with first names similar to last names. Maybe Trivy Trivette would work for my girl. LOL
What about Earl? Earl Ervin? Isn't a far stretch from Erv Ervin. Earl Kane Ervin....Earlkin Ervin...that might be a bit too creative. LOL

As far as using McKane goes, the only thing I think of is John McCain. And I'm sorry if this is offensive to you, but I am a democrat, and disliked John McCain (although I like him far more than the more recent republican candidates). But if that reference doesn't bother you, I don't see why you shouldn't use it.
