Names from the family cookbook
My grandmother recently died and in her will she left me the family cookbook. In my family, women (and occasionally a few men) have added recipes and baking tips from one generation to the next for the past 150+ years, signing each entry with their name, age, and location so we can trace our history through our favorite foods. I thought I'd share some of these names with you ladies (and men), since vintage names seem to be the hot thing these days (some of the names are ethnic Slavic and Eastern European names and spellings, where my family is from.) Enjoy!

Our babies Jack August Hopper, Hugo Thackeray Fox and Emmeline "Milly" Amelia Story were born on the 15th of July 2012. We can't believe how far they have come!

Name-obsessed twenty-something in the US. No kids right now, but will be TTC in a few years...it's fun to think of the possibilities in the meantime!

Wow, I'm loving all the Polish names in your family tree! They're all a bit GPish for me, since I have no Polish ancestry, but I love seeing them mentioned and used. Ziven, Wioletta, Emilija, Ewelina, and Marek are my favorites. How do you say Ziven, btw? I've always said it ZEE-ven, but I was never sure if that's correct.
I also like Daniel, Helena, Agnes, Johanna, Lillian, Magda, Greta, Grace, Josephine, Violet, Alice, and Lidia.

My great-grandmother pronounced it "TZ-iv-in", but I'm not sure if that was because of her accent or how it's really pronounced. Ziven was a great-great-great-great uncle who died way long before I was ever a gleam in my mother's eye.
