Surprises in my State
Hi All,
I just did this for the girls and now thought I'd share for the boys....
I recently went to the Social Security name site and checked the top 100 names in my state and thought it would be interesting to start a thread about surprises in your state, since quite a few stood out to me. Below are names listed in UTAH that made the top 100 in 2010, but are not in the national top 100.
NAME, UTAH RANK/US RANK
Ryker, 26/311
Lincoln, 28/197
Boston, 51/545
Porter, 56/446
Asher, 57/139
Braxton, 58/171
Ashton, 64/126
Tyson, 67/237
Bridger, 71/916
Hudson, 73/138
Jace, 76/146
Kaden, 77/106
Ryder, 80/135
Sawyer, 81/173
Miles, 82/137
Kyler, 88/269
Daxton, 89/747
Seth, 91/165
Gage, 93/152
Preston, 95/131
Camden, 96/179
Jude, 97/170
Corbin, 98/250
Tanner, 100/176
I'm not surprised by many of these, however the few that stood out to me are:
Ryker, Boston, Porter, Tyson, Bridger, Kyler, Daxton, Corbin
Thoughts? What names top the charts in your state or area that you might be surprised about??

Wow, that's a lot!
For my state:
Colin 76/111
Bryce 79/112
Sean 80/103
Brady 81/125
Shane 82/200
Vincent 84/109
Nolan 89/104
Patrick 90/129
Kyle 91/107
Jake 95/129
Timothy 97/115
Gage 99/152
Micah 100/108
None of this really surprises me, though--all the people in Pennsylvania I know go for fairly traditional sorts of names--it took me a while until I got to one that was in the PA top 100 that wasn't in the national one--and that's because they're all sort of dated, haha.
I figured I'd do the girls' list, too:
Lydia 55/111 (no surprise here--I hear Lydia all over the place, from my age all the way down to new babies... Lydia is definitely a Pennsylvania favorite!)
Sadie 63/118
Mary 65/109
Rylee 70/102 (no surprise here, either! I meet so many Rileys/Rylees/Ryleighs everywhere I go!)
Jordyn 81/112
Mya 83/101
Katelyn 85/103
Julianna 86/176
Lilly 87/107
London 88/108
Kendall 89/133
Alivia 91/174
Adrianna 95/173
Jenna 97/141
Megan 98/131
Juliana 100/145
The only one for the girls that really surprised me was Juliana and Sadie--I'm pleasantly surprised that they're in the top 100 for PA! I was also pretty happy about Patrick and Mary. The others are quite predictable to me--Pennsylvanians seem to love their unisex, and dated, fairly classic, 100-range type names, lol.Ashley

Really? Genesis is also in the top 100 nationally. I know a Genesis who goes by just Genesis... I figured it was in the top 100 in my state, too, but apparently it's not. I used to really like it--I actually went through a phase of wanting to name all my kids after books in the Bible, lol (my favorite was Revelation nn Shelly, though, haha).

Thanks for sharing. It is pretty interesting how different naming styles can be from state to state.
