HELP! We need ideas for baby #3 please!!!
Hello Nameberries! We're finally going to find out if baby #3 is a boy or girl in just a couple of weeks! Yay! I'm dying to have a name picked out for a girl, but it seems that I've thought so long and hard about what to name this one if it is a girl that now I'm just unsure about it! We have two boys...John Daniel and James Monroe. If this one is another boy, we're definitely going with Jude (with middle name probably Oliver). We were considering the following if it's a girl:
Evangeline Grace or Evangeline Rose (nn Eve, Evie, or maybe even Evie Grace)
Violet Elizabeth
Grace (not sure of middle name)
We also kind of like Scarlett, Alice, Vivian, Opal (as a middle name after my Grandmother), Cora (my Grandmother's first name...husband likes it more than me though).
Now we're just not sure. I just recently met two babies named Evangeline/Evie...Violet seems to be getting more popular...and Grace is beautiful and timeless but is it just too common?! We really like old-fashioned names...nothing too out there. But we are open to any and all suggestions! Please help!!! Thanks a bunch in advance!!!

I love all the names on your list. I think your best bet would be Evangeline, Opal and Cora. These don't seem as popular. I love Violet, but it does seem to be rising and Grace is lovely, but it is very common. I find Alice rather boring and I can definitely see it taking off, what with Allison being so popular in the 80s and 90s. Vivian is lovely too, but I have noticed this getting popular as well. I love Scarlett, but like the others, she seems to be rising. Unfortunately, most names popular at the turn of the century are getting popular. Here are other vintagy names that are not as common:
Ada
Agnes
Alta
Augusta
Belle
Blanche
Celia
Daisy
Della
Dolly
Dora
Dorothy
Edna
Edith
Eliza
Estella
Flora

Thank you so much for all of those suggestions! I'm going to run some of them by the husband...

Those are all lovely names. John and James are short names, so Grace would be my pick. Cora is a favorite of mine too, but Grace seems to fit nicely with John and James.
They are very old-fashioned names (in a good way). They make me think of one of my grandfathers (James/Jim) and one of my great-grandfathers (John).
Here are some vintage names for girls that you might like:
Anne (Annie)
Rose (Rosie, if you like) or Primrose
Lily or Lila
Olivia (Liv)
Vera
Mabel
Irene
Faye
Bonnie
Belle

I agree with you niteowl...Grace seems like a perfect fit with John and James and has always been a favorite. But I'm just worried that it's way too overused. I know, I know...I chose really common names for my boys. But it some how doesn't seem as bad for a boy to have a common name than for a girl...we just liked that John and James were good, old-fashioned, masculine names. And honestly, you almost never come across babies named John any more (at least I haven't).
That being said, what would be a good middle name for Grace?! It seems like every name I try with Grace ends up sounding better in first place with Grace as the middle!
And I also like Anne/Annie/Anna...again, is it too common and overused? Am I just being way too boring?!
aubriannamorgan...I like your Coraline suggestion...but is it too closely associated with the recent movie Coraline?

I think Anne Evangeline is lovely. Obvious nicknames would probably Annie or Evie, but one that I just made up is maybe Annevieve or Annevie, I think that would be cute. Anne goes perfect with John and James, I think of the Tudor Court, and Anne is a classic that has been really underused lately. I really like Jane too, another classic that is too underused. I don't think Jane and James are too close as siblings, but if it bothers you, then you might also like Joanna or Johanna (in the case of Johanna, you could call her Hanna for short).

Not sure how you feel about it, but Jude could also be used for a girl. I like it as a female name actually.

Grace or Anne do seem to work well with your sibset. A couple of names that are similar, but different from Cora-- Aurora, Coralie, Cordelia, Laura, Lorelei, and Thora. Grace would make a nice mn with any of these. I also like Anne Evangeline with the nns you had. Jane is pretty but it does seem close to James-- maybe use it as a mn though?
A few other names that would work well with your sibset-- John, James, and
Alice
Caroline
Eliza
Julia
Margaret
Phoebe
Rose
If you think Grace is too plain, you could use Graciella or Gratiana instead. Similarly, you could use Anastasia, Juliana, Liliana, or Antonia with Ana/Anna as a nn.
Here are a few suggestions for mns with Grace:
Grace Anne
Grace Eleanor
Grace Alice
Grace Elizabeth
Grace Margaret
Grace Helen
